I was so cold I couldn't hardly stand there without shaking. I know that Dylan won the High Jump and I heard Cody Ross' name as the winner but I don't know which event.

LUMBERTON — LUMBERTON -- Nederland boys first-year track and field coach Chris Theriot is making a serious bid for rookie of the year.

The Bulldogs made it 2 for 2 under Theriot's supervision this week by rolling to another team title at the 21st annual Lumberton Raider relays.

This Thursday evening display was absolutely dominant in Nederland's favor. The NHS boys compiled 182 points -- 70 more than runner-up Little Cypress-Mauriceville.

Awfully chilly weather in the high 40s could not prevent the Bulldogs from winning two relays and producing four double winners in a competitive varsity field.

Nederland won the 1,600- and 800-meter relay races. The four double winners were Trevor Martin, Grant Lovelady, Aaron McCrary and Kevin Molina.

Martin won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters with teammate Domingo Flores right behind him each time. McCrary swept the sprints, winning the 100- and 200-meter dash. Molina won the 800 meters while running a leg on the 1,600-meter relay. Lovelady competed in both of Nederland's winning relay events.

Shot putter Reagan Richard was the Lady Bulldogs' lone winner in a varsity girls division won by Vidor.

The Lady Pirates claimed the gold medals in six events, including the 1,600-meter relay, and compiled 170 points.

Port Neches-Groves placed a solid third in both divisions with 118 points on the girls side and 106 on the boys side.

Hillary Coy of PN-G was the school's lone double winner, taking the unusual combination of the pole vault and the 100-meter hurdles.

Defending state qualifier Dylan Richards made it 2 for 2, winning the high jump again. Cody Ross also made it 2 for 2 in the triple jump. Tyler Wright did the same in the 300-meter hurdles while Jordan Begnaud claimed his first win of 2010 in the pole vault.

The Height for High Jump is reported incorrectly at 6 feet. Dylan cleared 6 feet 4 inches at the lumberton meet for the record. The six foot jump is where he entered the competition wnd that was all he needed to win. He continued and cleared 6'4" and attempted 6'6" but had to settle for the 6'4" mark as his best for the day.
