I read in the PA News online edition that TPC will lay off approx. 100 employees (allegedly a mixture of salaried and hourly employees). My hope is that the lay offs will not affect families in Port Neches or Groves, but I know it will. If you know of someone losing his or her job, give them help and support. Rally around PN-G alumni affected by this terrible situation. I hope that TPC will rebuild and provide jobs to area residents. I hope that TPC does not string along the communities of Port Neches and Groves, and then screw them all by closing the facility for good. Those SOBs need to step-up and repair area homes, businesses, schools, and infrastructure damaged by the negligence/explosions at TPC. Further, TPC needs to rebuild and give back to the communities that have supported them through the thick and thin. Again, if you know of someone affected by the lay offs, give them help and support. Once an Indian, Always an Indian!

Go Indians. Peace.

That would be a travesty. I’ll try to avoid anything that could be construed as defamation or slander, but the circumstances leading up to that tragic event, the ensuing toxic environment and property damage, and now economic impact and job loss is a really sad story. That plant had such a meaningful , historic impact on the community. It was a great partnership. Now this. . I agree that the right thing to do is build it back. We know that with more efficiencies gained by new equipment and automation, the need for less manpower is likely. But the community deserves to continue being the home of that operation and any remaining jobs.
