I posted these 1999 playoff game recaps on SETXSPORTS under the Astrodome FB memories thread.
PN-G vs Brazosport Friday November 26th 1999 in the Astrodome.

Brazosport came into this game with a perfect 12-0 record and a solid game plan to slow down Dustin Long and our Indians passing game. They held Dustin to 10 of 27 for only 169 yards and 1 TD.

Port Neches-Groves entered this game after whipping Waller 54-28 with a 11 and 1 record. The teams only loss came from WO-S 21-14. PN-G also played a close game in round one against Silsbee winning 17-10 at TJ's Stadium.

PN-G played n front of a crowd of 19000 that night. PN-G struggled with the good game plan of coach Fred Bolton who intended to slow down our passing attack. What coach Bolton didn't account for was the tackle trap which worked out for the Indians. J Bergeron finished the night with 97 yards on 12 carries. B Wortham finished the night with 75 yards on 12 carries and D. Long rushed for 73 yards on 10 carries. Long scored twice on rushes of 1 and 2 yards and also had a 59 yard run to set up a TD. Wortham scored on a 16 yard run. Long threw a TD to J. Price and T. Baxter scored once. J. Bergeron had a 2 point conversion. PN-G went into the half of this game up by a close score of 13-7. PN-G adjusted to the running game for the second half and jumped out to a 35-7 lead. The O-line consisting of C-Brent Powers, Tackles Blake Hopper and Wes Temple, and Guards David Crochet and Elliot Adams were the stars of the night for PN-G. Brazosport coach Fred Bolton was quoted as saying " Their line dominated us. I cant say enough about their line." PN-G's defense also had a big night holding Exporters star RB Shermark Francis to 17 rushes for 98 yards but only 8 yards in the second half. The Indians db J. Neeb also intercepted Brazosport's first drive of the second half to halt a promising scoring chance at the PN-G 30 yard line. PN-G ended up winning this game 35-21 after Brazosport scored 20 unanswered points very late in the game. I remember the Exporters had a receiver who was 6'7" tall who was a NBA stars grandson. I also remember them using the hook-and-ladder late when they were attempting to make their comeback. One of my fond memories from that night.....Lamarque's team doctor was sitting behind me watching this game he commented to me that we (Lamarque) are in trouble next week facing these Indians. At the time I didn't have a clue how right he was. PN-G finished the game with 24 first downs and 443 yards with 272 yards rushing and 144 of those yards came in the 2nd half. PN-G held Brazosport to 15 first downs and 324 yards.

Here is some memories and stats from the Lamarque game one of my favorites as an Indians fan...
OK here goes.....1999 PN-G who was 12-1 played a former TJ coach in Larry Walker who was leading a stout Lamarque Cougars team who had been to 4 straight championship games winning 3 of them with a 11-1 record. In no way was the Indians supposed to have a chance in the game. We lined up with them on Dec 3rd at 7:30 pm in the Dome. They boasted a 381 yd per game average with two lineman weighing in at 315 and 320 pounds. Their defense allowed just 186 yards per game. Lamarque featured the triplets in QB Micheal Hill 103 of 175 1485 yards 11 td's to 4 int's, HB Trevor McKenzie 216 for 1649 yards and 26 TD's , and WR Nehemiah Glover 42 catches for 739 yards and 8 TDs. PN-G featured QB Dustin Long who has 2468 yards wth 23 TD's and 483 yards rushing with 11 TD's, RB's Bo Wortham 130 carries for 758 yards and 16 TD's and Little Jeff Bergeron 130 carries for 959 yards and 6 TD's, WR's Justin Baxter no stats and Joey Price 41 catches for 758 yards and 9 TDs. PN-G offensive line weighed in at TE 242lbs RT 215 RG 215 C 215 LG 185 LT 262 far undersized compared to the Lamarque d-line. Late in the first Qt the Indians drove down inside the Lamarque 25 yard line but on 3rd down they were penalized for holding. Instead of declining the penalty Lamarque chose to accept it to push them back because of the strong leg of Joey Price. On the 3rd and long play D. Long hit Baxter down the middle for a touchdown and never looked back winning 22-6. Dustin Long carved up their defense to the tune of 21 of 28 for 288 yards and 3 toucdowns 0 Int. He also rushed for 73 yards. Baxter had 7 catches for 126 yards and 2 TD's. Bo Wortham also caught a 20 yard TD and Joey Price kicked a 35 yard field goal. Also of a worthy note safety C. Golhke had a great game against the Lamarque receivers making them fear using the middle of the field. This is one of my favorite Astrodome games to watch. This maybe a bit much but you asked....lol

One of my all time favorite memories was from a game in the 1977 state play-off run. We were playing in the Astrodome(do not remember the opponent), and Randy Etheridge took the opening kick-off back for a TD. I will never forget how loud the PN-G fans were when he scored...still get goose bumps thinking about it!

That was great run indeed. I remember the games, watching the replays on FNE, watching taped replays a couple times during the week while waiting for the next game. I think the semi-final game - with the comeback drive against Schertz-Clemens - was my favorite memory of that season.

Here is that drive, thanks to the '99 Indians for great memories, hope they are all doing well.
