2019 Defense

The potential for a good year of defense is exciting. With 6 starters plus several other players that routinely played coming back from the 3rd ranked defense in 12-5A last season, the Indians D should be tough.

For all the self procliamed pundits that like to trash the Indian D, there wasn't much difference between the top 3 in 2018.

Barring injuries, the defense should be fine. If the Indians stay healthy and avoid giving up explosive plays for TDs (i.e., make opposing offenses drive the ball downfield), they will be in the race for another district championship. Injuries and depth are the variables that worry me. If an opponent's offense drives the ball downfield and gets a score, then sometimes you have tip your cap to them and get ready for the next series. I hope that we tackle well and limit big plays. In a perfect world of purple, the Indians stop every team they play and get a record number of take-away TOs. Here's to a great year in 2019.

Go Indians. Peace.

I don’t want to jinx anything, but we’ve got some hosses on D this year who will get after somebody! Front 7 is tough. D backs have some experience and quickness.
