If he thinks it's an awesome game in Nederland, he needs to see it at Indian Stadium.

I don't think he meant anything bad by that or at least I didn't take it that way.

As soon as I say this someone will educate me I'm sure. ;D

The Indian Spirit's appearance is probably much more elaborate/colorful/visual than a standard Native American head dress, etc. Which is accurate and by design. Maybe that's the reason he referred to it as 'Mardi Gras'.

Yes it is much more elaborate than the Native American head dress. My wife has a friend that just went to Pow Wow last weekend and she posted pictures on her FB and the outfit were a variety of colors some red, turquoise and brown. The head dresses were nothing like our Indian Spirit, they use real looking feathers in the colors of red, black, cream, yellow and orange.

He said that PNG's band "favored miiltary style marching"..........maybe back in the 70's! :)

Cool article though. He just reiterates what we've been telling folks for decades!

I caught that, too. I figured he was talking about the Marching I.

Let's not forget that Bob West was a die-hard Yellowjacket fan and has never liked PNG. It is a shame that the author of the article just got a little taste of MCM. He needs to come to PNG if he wants to really see what high school football is about.

To be fair, West, though a knucklehead, didn't write this piece. I thought it was a great write on the rivalry. Though some may think differently, the rivalry wouldn't be what it is, if the Nederland community wasn't what it is... a rivalry isn't a one way ticket.

Exactly, and there are a few Indians living over in Bulldog country.
