TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — University of Alabama freshman cornerback Tony Brown has been charged with failure to obey officers and resisting arrest by police responding to a complaint of a loud party at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

The Tuscaloosa News reports (http://bit.ly/1ifJqqK ) 18-year-old Brown was arrested Saturday night less than three weeks after he came to Alabama as an early enrollee for 2014. Brown was rated a five-star prospect from Beaumont, Texas.

Alabama associate athletics director Jeff Purinton says coach Nick Saban knows of the arrest. Brown was released from jail on $1,500 bond. It was not known if he had an attorney.

Tuscaloosa police say Brown approached officers repeatedly and "yelled threatening profanity" after being told to leave a parking lot. Police say they used pepper spray on Brown after he resisted arrest.

Saban and his coaching staff, while strict, are not against second chances. This is merely a disorderly conduct charge. I think Saban will come down hard on him - maybe even so much so that he'll wish he'd been cut - but I don't think Saban will kick him out, and I think he'll be better for it in the end.

Hopefully, this is a learning experience. When a police officer tells you to do something, do it.

I've read some of the comments from the online articles. People are really bashing the kid. Hope he can get it straight and make Southeast Texas proud.

Sad some of our kids are not getting those opportunities.
