Roschon's selection to the 1st team on the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Super Team is a huge honor. Only 2 other PNG athletes have been on the DCTF Super Team 1st team - Randy Lee (1967) and Jeff Bergeron (1972). (It was even more difficult back in those days because there were only 11 players on the Super Team.) So Roschon is in very select company. Happy to see him finally getting the recognition that he deserves.

For those interested in PNG history, here are the comments about Lee and Bergeron from the DCTF magazines:

RANDY LEE, Port Neches-Groves 6-1, 192, senior. Among the best in a splendid crop of prep linebackers, also works at tackle. "A great football player," testifies coach Ken Watson. "He has size, speed, agility, strength and loves to hit". Literally a destructive tackler, Lee smashed 4 sets of shoulder pads as a junior. An outstanding team player, honor student.

JEFF BERGERON, Port Neches-Groves 6-0, 180, senior. "Super is the only way to describe him," says one college recruiter. "He can absolutely do it all". What he does best is rush from a devasting Wishbone formation with a superb blend of speed, balance and strength (2,500 years in two seasons). "He's the kind you have to get to have a great recruiting year," says one scout.

Personal Note:

I'm sure most PNG fans are familiar with Bergeron, but maybe not so much with Randy Lee. I may be biased since I graduated with him back in 1968, but he's at the top of my list of PNG linebackers. I remember him as tackling machine with a lot of big hits. He was also successful at the college level, starting at linebacker for Rice University for 3 years. I was looking forward to seeing him again at the Class of 1968 reunion in October. Unfortunately, I just found out that he passed away back in 2013. Gone but not forgotten.
