PNG coming off a squeaky win and BH coming off a major letdown???

PNG offense is clicking with Crippen. If the defense can learn how to tackle which we have been discussing for two years, they PNG takes this one at home.

The Dayton game seemed to me to be a combination of a letdown after the Nederland loss and underestimating Dayton. We were definitely not fired up for whatever reason.

Barbers Hill has to be a little down after the Crosby game. Although they really only lost because of a bad call on the 2 point try, they have to be disappointed with how they finished the game. They were ahead 46-31 with 4 minutes left. And later they had the Crosby QB sacked in the end zone, but somehow let him get loose for a 50 yard gain with only a minute left.

So hopefully we'll be re-energized and BH will emotionally down this week.

After last season's 56-28 beatdown @ Eagle stadium in Mount Belvieu, in which BH led something like 35-14 or 42-14 at the half, I would hope the returning lettermen and coaches have a long memory and plenty of motivation to play with fire and nastiness. The QB and RB for BH return this season. They moved the ball with ease last year. I hope the PN-G defense is on fire and up to the challenge. If not, this game could get ugly.

Until we start putting some pressure on qb’s these games will continue to be losses or barely get by w’s. We should be 2-0. Nederland qb wasn’t that good. You take away the run that night and it’s a W. Same thing with Dayton. That game had no business being that close. We didn’t pressure there qb like they did ours. We got to take some chances with man coverage, not 15 yards off the line man coverage, and bring some pressure.

Offense came together Friday night, but it almost seemed the defense took a step back. Although Dayton had some playmakers, they are not an easy out like they have been in the last few years.

Defense didn't seem to be into the game for some reason. Defense is all about controlled fury. Barbers Hill is going to pound the rock. Better tighten up those chin straps and deliver it back.

We establish the run and stick with it, we will have a shot. I don’t think we have the receiving core to throw all game. No deep threat.

“Barbers Hill has the district’s top-ranked offense, averaging 500 yards per game. However, the Eagles also have the district’s second worst defense and have given up more passing yards than any other team in the district.

Barbers Hill’s Garrette Hagler leads this district in rushing with 658 yards and 6.3 yards per carry. Trahan is second with 614 yards.

The Eagles also use senior quarterback Brent Holdren in the running game. Holdren is second in the district for passing yards, but also fourth in the district in rushing yards.”

2021 Preview
Coach: Tom Westerberg. Lettermen R/L: 29/30. Starters returning O/D: 5/5. 2020: 6-5 area finalist/5-2 district.

Players to watch: QB Brent Holdren (5-10, 185), RB Garret Hagler (5-11, 215), OL Mason Schweinle (6-3, 300), LB Jordan Gigout (5-8, 185), DB Theron Pierre (5-10, 165).

2021 notes: What Barbers Hill lacks in quantity of returning starters, they make up for in a big way with some quality talent returning to the mix from an area round playoff team in 2020. The offense will lean heavily on the talents of QB Holdren (1,404 yards, 19 TDs passing; 918 yards, 16 TDs rushing), who is a dual-threat and is capable of spreading the ball around to multiple playmakers. Tough-running Hagler also returns, and he’s a load at 215 pounds and is more than capable of getting the tough yards. LB Gigout (142 tackles, 3 INTs) is undersized but is always around the football with his elite instincts. DB Pierre returns to lead the secondary after leading the team with five interceptions a year ago.

I like your gameplan. Establish the run game, stick with it, shorten the game, be selective in the passing game, no TOs, and get the kids to play with energy and enthusiasm. I agree...that is the best shot to get a W. TOs have hurt us all year. Take care of the football, minimize mistakes, have fun, take a shot to win the game in the 4Q. I hope it happens. I'll be listening and cheering on the Indians. Go Indians.

Usedtocould...I was updating the live game thread. I'll stay here with your updates. BH is making it look easy. Both teams are moving the ball. We need to tighten up on defense.
