Had a pretty good turnout....not very vocal, though. And Cherokee was still too slow!! And I never said a word, 2 ladies in front of me made the comment about someone needs to tell the band director how it's supposed to sound.

Bandkid, can you let the director know that every PN-G Indian fan that has been around long enough to know the difference agrees 100% that Cherokee does not sound right.
The football field is not a concert hall. Pick up the beat! Faster and louder!

Yes! Please tell him AGAIN!! Grrrr.......I can't stand the way the band sounds compared to yesteryears.

I sure hate to hear that we still can't seem to get someone directing the band to play the fight song fast enough.
I bet if every one of us sent Mr. Wells a letter or an email requesting a faster tempo..... that would make a statement.

The best anyone can do is continue to contact the administration and band directors. It was slower this evening, but I honestly think that it had more to do with the drum majors then it did the directors tonight. They counted us off slowly for some reason. Hopefully, it will be taken care of by next year. Our new drum majors are very enthusiastic and I happen to know that one of them has a mother who has been pressing for a faster tempo as well, so I think the situation will be remedied next year. As for why it was slow tonight, I really don't know, but the drum majors counted us off slowly for some reason. Hopefully, it was a one-time thing. We played it at a great tempo (Somewhere between 120 and 130.) at Indian Spirit Tryouts, and next year we are supposed to have a bigger drumline and a bigger brass section, which should make it MUCH louder.
To tell you the truth, we're lucky we had Cherokee at all this evening. The administration originally told us that we were only to play it twice (once at the beginning and once at the end) to "save time" so that there would be enough time to play the powderpuff game. The band directors and, yes, the cheerleader sponsor went to the administration and asked them for a compromise: Play "long" Cherokee at the beginning and the end and "short" Cherokee once for each sport. The administration agreed. I'd be thanking Mr. Wells, Ms. Beckcom, and Mrs. Wolfe because, without them, we would have hardly had it at all.
