Can someone with UIL knowledge please post if it is true that a bench clearing brawl taking place at a high school football game automatically results in a one game team suspension. I am seeing this on "other websites".

Would that prevent Central from advancing to the playoffs? Something tells me that the UIL will not look the other way on this if the brawl was as serious as some are claiming. If video should arise, that could not be good for either team (especially Central who is headed for the playoffs).

Be assured that the UIL will be requesting all game film from both teams. Since there were no playoff implications tied to last night's game, there were few from the TV media present. The only other footage would be from fans if they wanted to make it available.

If Burnett was punched or even pushed by a Central player, as some have mentioned, there has to be some reaction by the UIL. There is no place in high school sports for that behavior.

My daughter tells me she saw him get punched in the face by a Central player - now she is young, but not so young that she does not know when someone is taking a swing at someone. But she could have been mistaken as to which Coach it was.

I was looking at it through binoculars, but I didn't need to use binoculars to see Coach Burnett going flying through the air and Central players hitting him.

I really hate to hear that and wish him the best. An even rougher ending to a rough season for Coach Burnett.

sounds like more than just an incidental hit if that statement is 100% accurate. Severe penalties for those involved would be in order!!!

Has Central's folks made any type of statement or apology for this incident, if in fact they are the instigating party in this mess.??

I saw nothing on the news last night other than some small mention of a bench clearing but no footage what so ever. Nothing much was mentioned in either of the news papers. I sure do hope that the UIL looks into this.

The way things works, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this whole thing was swept under the carpet. After all, we have to be PC...don't we??

That is what I was thinking when I didn't see anything either of the papers or on the news. That is to me as a parent is sad and Central should be embarressed.

I was there and Png should be just as embrassed we cleared the bench also i think what inflamed it was the cheap shots central took but that is no reason for us to have a brawl

Well it depends on who cleared the bench first. If central cleared them first i dont see why PNG should be embrassed they did what anyone would do and thats protect their friends and teammates. Now if PNG cleared first thats another story. You cant blame the kids for protecting each other.Or at least i wouldnt.Beaumont schools have never showed much respect or sportsmanship to us before why would they now.
