Fyi, Dave Campbell has us finishing 5th in district this year. Crosby, Nederland, BH, and Texas City top 4.

DCTF Magazine continues to decline.
After all is said and done the contents of that magazine is nothing more than sales fodder. In the end it matters not. Good luck to all teams who will decide true rankings on the field.

Whoever ranked BH and Nederland that high must have been high. I doubt Crosby will be a top 12 team either.

Ditto. 100% PN-G diehard here. But I also grew up watching TJ and Lincoln play. Never did see any SFA or Bishop Byrne games. I appreciate Port Arthur’s football history and legacy.

Port Neches-Groves Indians

2021 Preview
Coach: Brandon Faircloth. Lettermen R/L: 20/36. Starters returning O/D: 4/7. 2020: 5-6 bi-district finalist/4-3 district.
Players to watch: RB/LB Koby Trahan (6-0, 185, 4.6), WR Carson Wallace (5-6, 175, 4.6), RB Daylan Bergeron (5-9, 205, 4.7), DB Matthew Kendrick (5-10, 175, 4.6), DL Donald Kinnett (5-10, 250), LB Jackson Green (5-10, 175, 4.6). Top juniors: QB Cole Crippen (6-2, 185, 4.6), DL Isaac Baker (6-3, 250).
Other prospects: K Tate Sandell, OL Jansen Ware, OL Bryce Loftin.
2021 notes: Faircloth’s squad is a playoff regular out of the Golden Triangle and if they are going to make their ninth straight playoff appearance, they may get it done on the strength of a defense that returns seven starters. RB/LB Trahan (64 tackles) is the team’s top returning tackler and he may get a look as the featured back in the spread offense. Bergeron (24-221 yards, 3 TDs receiving) is an outstanding pass catcher out of the backfield. WR Wallace (26-201, 2 TDs receiving) also returns for new QB Crippen, who led the JV team to an 8-2 record. DB Kendrick (40 tackles, 1 INT) and DL Kinnett (50 tackles, 2 sacks) also return for the defense. “Our skill positions will be young and inexperienced, so we’ll need those guys to mature and adjust to varsity football quickly,” Faircloth said.

Port Arthur Memorial Titans

2021 Preview
Coach: Brian Morgan. Lettermen R/L: 28/13. Starters returning O/D: 7/7. 2020: 9-1 bi-district finalist/7-0 district. Key losses: Jordon Thomas (Texas), Maleek Jones (Tarleton State).
Players to watch: QB Jah’mar Sanders (5-11, 175, 4.4), DE Christian Thomas (6-3, 225, 4.9), DB Jaylon Guilbeau (6-0, 175, 4.4), OL Cayden Bowie (6-4, 270), RB Adrian Hayward (6-1, 205, 4.5), LB Jayden Fisher (6-0, 205, 4.8). Top juniors: LB Darrell Thornton (6-2, 210, 4.7), DB Jelani Chevalier (5-10, 175, 4.4). Top sophomore: DB Daevon Iles (5-10, 170, 4.4).
2021 notes: The Titans, fresh off a district title, feel like they have the front-line personnel to go toe-to-toe with anyone in Region III and compete for a regional crown. QB Sanders (2,057 yards, 17 TDs passing; 1,163 yards, 20 TDs rushing) is back to lead the offense after earning 9-5A Division I player of the year honors. He’s a dual threat and an absolute game changer for the Titans’ offense. RB Hayward (323 yards, 4 TDs rushing; 47-462 yards, 2 TDs receiving) is one of the top receiving backs in the state. The defense will be fast and physical, led by district defensive player of the year Thomas, who tallied a dozen sacks a year ago and FBS cornerback commit Guilbeau (40 tackles, 4 INTs).
