DCTF's assessment on PN-G for 2010. *disclaimer* I don't agree with these assessments, just posting for info in case anyone is interested.

20-4A predicted finish: p.258
(1) Central (D1)
(2) Port Neches - Groves (D2)
(3) Nederland (D1)
(4) Lumberton (D2)

Not currently ranked in the top 25 Class 4A State Ranking - No one is from our district for that matter. p.235

Considered a "Dark Horse" to watch out for in Region III Class 4A

FIVE DARK HORSES p.237
"These teams didn't earn preseason rankings. But you (and their district opponents) would be foolish to ignore them."

1. Port Neches - Groves
2. Sherman
3. Houston Stratford
4. Crosby
5. Marshall

The website goes on to predict that PN-G will make it to the Quaterfinal round, eventually losing to Brenham

How well I remember the last time we won state. We weren't picked to win district then, either. Why? Because our boys were too small. That was true, BUT they were a well-oiled machine and had the "pitch out" down perfectly. Our quarterback could throw the ball and our "tiny" receivers could catch. Everyone knew how to block and where to go. They were a joy to watch. The teamwork was awesome. We were the underdogs in every playoff game, including the state game. I won some $$$$ that year betting on the Indians. Now, we have great coaching, players who don't quit when the going gets tough, great teamworks AND some big linemen. What more can anyone ask for? Dave Campbell was wrong in 1975 and he's wrong now. Wait.........he'll see. I see the next state game will be played in Texas Stadium (the new one) and can't wait to win again in Dallas!!

Close Squaw, but that was the 74' team that went on to make it to the Semi-finals. The 75', State Champs were picked #1 at the beginning of the yr., and ended up that way.

Hubby said we were ranked #3 when we played the state game. I remember everyone laughing about it.

Though polls of any kind don't mean much, I am surprised that PN-G did not make the top 20. With their prediction that we would go at least 4 rounds in the play-offs, you would think that we would be in the top 20. That's O.K., because we aren't stopping at round 4--WE ARE GOING ALL THE WAY TO STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:    :woohoo:

I'm sure he's right. What I meant was that we ended up #1 FOR REAL! I knew we lost our #1 ranking after South Houston beat us 17-16, but couldn't remember how far we dropped. The sweet part was that we came back in the playoffs and beat the snot out of them.

Remember their "Junk Yard Dog"? I also remember Odessa's Santa Claus dressed in a black Santa suit instead of red. Hubby said he knew we were gonna win because you just don't mess with Santa! lol
