Re: Next Opponent: Tyler Chapel Hill (0-2)

TCH is down a large bunch of starters due to injury according to an aquanitiance. I think we will be able to run the ball on them similar to last season.

Chapel Hill is several years removed from a state title run. However, they do appear have taken several steps backwards the last few years. With that said, East Texas plays really good football. I do, however, look for PNG to take this one rather handily.

Licking our wounds is over, and the Indians will be prepared. I believe they will remain focused through District and take the crown.

TCH doesn't have a chance. :woohoo:

Tyler Chapel Hill lost 42-21 to Paris friday night. They seem to be down this season and I hear they have a lot of injuries

Any word on how we have looked at practice with the bye week?

Have we tightened the chin straps and started hitting hard at practice after seeing the physicality WOS played with?

I stopped by for a while. I am not a good judge, they seem to be 3/4 speed. no real "get afterem" kinda drills. From what the Dads that I talk to say only WOS really does it old school?

We do lots of finesse stuff, etc... no sled, shot block other type of drills.

I am sure there is a youth football coach out there that knows.

Ever wonder why the youth coaches kids are always all stars but rarely make it at the HS level?

Ha! I've never wondered that for a second. Kinda like Little League All Stars! It's actually a "Coaches Kids" tournament. Nothing to do with "All-Stars" at all.

That's not the game that I grew up playing. Even practice was 90%+ speed.

The QB and skill position players were usually just tapped because they get hurt so easily. ;D The rest... :helmet: :flaming:

Sad indeed. I spoke with his dad just a few weeks ago. Really nice man. RIP Chris.

Not much game conversation. So whats the verdict? What worked well, what needs more work?

Re: Next Opponent: Tyler Chapel Hill (0-2)

I enjoyed the game in Lufkin. PN-G played well except for a few penalties and turnovers. Chapel Hill scored in the 1Q on a nice run by their RB and they had a good FG kicker, but after the first TD and the FG, the PN-G defense tightened up and shut them down. The Indian defense created turnovers...INTs...to stop Chapel Hill from getting into the end zone. PN-G had a nice kick-off return, the kicking game was fine, and not much to complain about from the Indians' side. On offense, if the Indians clean up the penalties and hang on to the football, they are hard to stop. Morse threw the ball all over the yard, he ran for a TD, and the Indians run game was getting 5, 6 and 7 yards a pop...plus our RB had a long run for a 40 or 50 yard TD. When I left it was 35-10, after a short TD run in the 4Q. Chapel Hill was not very good, but the PN-G defense was part of the reason they were not very good, and a W is a W so take it and move on. It was an excellent night for HS football. Once the sun went down, you could not ask for a better night to play HS football. PN-G played well and it never gets old hearing Cherokee or seeing the Marching I at the end of halftime. OK, one small critique. The white jersey and gray pants...so/so look...I prefer the all white road unis. The white top, white pants and white helmet have always looked sharp since 1974. I don't mind the purple/gray mix, although I prefer either all purple or all white, but the gray and white mix just does not do it for me. OK, off my soapbox about football uniforms.

Looking forward to seeing PN-G play Baytown Lee over on Sjolander Road at Stallworth Stadium next week. Need to keep building momentum for a tough district race v. Central, Nederland and Ozen.

Go Indians. Peace.

Couldn't make the game but sounds like a solid performance all the way around. Sounds like the bye week helped us tremendously to work on some things. District starts Thursday. Now it counts boys!!!

+1, the all white is a great look.
