Idea. I would love to see some sort of Native American honoring ceremony/event centered around the Santa Fe game. Since they are also the Indians and no doubt facing some level of pressure from the idiots out there regarding the naming. I thought it might be fantastic to show ‘em how it’s done with honor pride and tradition. Schools in Houston have already caved in this area. The more schools that choose to honor the Indian pride the better. (Although I do understand changing the (Houston) Lamar Redskins since learning MB Lamar’s attitude towards the Texas tribes) I think I remember hearing as a kid that the Indian Spirit in the early days went to the Alabama-Coushatta Rez during summers to learn the
dance originally. Maybe some A-B dancers etc? Just a crazy idea ???

I could be wrong, but I think it’s a hopeless endeavor. Rather than accomplish something positive, it would likely just intensify the attention and fury of the zealots that are against it.

Totally agree IndianFan. While I think a ceremony like that would be cool to watch, it would also inflame the opposition. It's impossible to placate the leftists/progressives in this country. Draw attention to yourself and you will be inundated with their venom and hatred. They seem to have unlimited time to fill up social media with their nonsense. And the mainstream media would immediately take up their cause in the name of "social justice". Very sad for our country, but I see this happening over and over again. IMO better to fly under their radar (as much as possible) while maintaining a strong stance - no compromise, end of discussion.

If the socially demented found cause to fight the cross in Port Neches Park, you know they’d have a field day on the mascot issue.

Makes sense. Y’all would definitely know better than I would since my HS mascot was a TIGER. Haha. No controversy there.
