His family has come out and said it is a brain bleed and they are going into surgery to relieve the pressure.

Update on Noah:

Let me start here….GOD IS FAITHFUL!!
Hematoma between skull and brain. It is not a hemorrhage. The section under the hematoma closest to brain looked like it is suppose to look and was relaxed as it should be. Part of the skull is gone for 5-6 days and then they will put it back. Leaves room for swelling. They will keep him in medicine induced coma to allow for healing. Has a drain tube for fluid drainage and a sensor place to read brain activity.
Thank you Jesus thank you Jesus thank you Jesus!! He will be going to ICU. Thank you all for prayers. Please continue to pray.
This is a post from his family.

Latest update from a family member

Neurosurgeon just got called in to check him. They are having issues with getting his blood pressure stabilized, and feel like it is do to the brain injury. They are kind of concerned that there is no drainage coming out. Neuro is doing another CT at 4 am and we will know more of why it’s not draining. Good report, he moved his left leg while his mom was scratching that leg and he moved his left hand when the nurse was messing with his IV. Continue to pray!

That is positive and great news. Thanks for sharing. He is probably in the best place in the world to deal with the issue.

Does anyone know if this was a result of a helmet to helmet hit? It’s really concerning that this type of injury can occur.

Football is a violent sport. As much as I have always loved it, I also recognize the danger now.
We talk about hitting harder and playing more aggressively here, but obviously not to the extent of harm.

I can remember hitting people so hard during tackles that I would temporarily blackout and hear ringing. That might explain my cognitive challenge today but at the time I did not care. Looking back now, it was crazy.

The episode last night reemphasizes that todays game absolutely needs to be more aware of avoiding head contact. But it can never be completely eliminated. Maybe the next generations of helmets can do a better job of protecting.

I feel the same - pretty sure I had a couple of mild concussions through my years that went undiagnosed. I know it’s affecting me now as well, but we all think we are invincible at that age and simply ‘tough it out.’

I was at the game, the young man got hurt on a 2-point conversion play by the opposing team. Very scary to see him on the cart on the sideline with his family down there. Praying for his full recovery and for comfort for his family.

The deacceleration experienced during an auto accident or a hard football hit can cause traumatic injury to the brain. In those cases head protection from the helmet is probably less of a factor. The padded shell of the helmet might protect from blunt force trauma but the brain moving is a tough problem to solve. There would need to be a rapid, automated counter movement to neutralize the movement. A just in time, just enough expansion of the helmet lining in the direction of the impact point and matching the velocity. Not sure that technology exists today.
