Looking ahead to Non-district games 2012.... Who's it gonna be?

This topic just an inquiry -- yes, I realize we still have a complete season of district match-ups that I am cheering the NDN's on to victory with hopes of a deep playoff run capped off with a trip to the big dance...

Just curious... with the pre-district commitment games completed that were arranged by M. Burnett, who do you think will/should be included on our pre-district schedule in the coming years?? I know many people have suggested keeping the travel close to home. Will Faircloths history with the Dallas or Austin areas possibly get PN-G a game with a notable opponent with state wide recognition? I know there must be some schools that would love to face the NDN's and the large crowd.

I would like to see PN-G play in one of the early season "classics" in the Dallas area. There are several double / triple headers with quality opponents involved. You know our fan s would be there. The Herbstreet classic on labor day at Dallas Cowboys stadium would be cool.

With funding cuts, chances are that our opponents will be local. We're already slated to play Memorial in the season opener, and that's a great way to expose our weaknesses early on and really give the team something to work on, not to mention that playing a 5A school earns some respect. I really hope he drops either Texas City or Crosby in favor of either WO-S (despite Hooks leaving, I think the Mustangs are going to be just fine) or West Brook (which I admittedly doubt would happen).

But my opinion is kind of irrelevant because there's no chance I'll make any preseason games.

That's a great question. Even though I graduated PN-G in '75, I have kept up with them all these years, thanks in large part to great websites like this...THANK YOU!!!

Living in the Cincinnati area the last 12 years, I have been blessed with some great high school football teams to follow as well. I remember in '75 when PN-G was ranked #3 nationally, Cincinnati Moeller was #1. The area also has Elder, Colerain and St. Xavier, one or more of which are consistently ranked in the top 25 nationally every year. These teams play nationally ranked out of state opponents every year and it really helps their recognition on a national stage. I wish PN-G had national exposure like that, but I am also sympathetic about the costs and budget situations confronting all schools these days.

Last week Elder hosted Louisville Trinity at the famed "PIT". Trinity was ranked 7th nationally and won 56 - 7. This week, they come back to Cincinnati to face St. X who is also ranked in the top 15 nationally. Just great football to watch and enjoy. But I do miss going to PN-G games against great opponents with 30,000 plus purple and white fans cheering them on.

Good Luck Indians on the rest of your season...I will be pulling for you!

Just a thought... the concessions was a huge success, even with the long lines, last Friday. WIth that said, mabe the BC could help the team with travel expensese so they could play a Dallas area team.

On that note, please do not let the long lines hinder you from supporting the BC and student activities. There are tvs to watch while you are in line.

i like having the fifth home game over traveling to a neutral site game.we give up a lot of revenue when you only have 4 home games.its also hard to find games for the underclassmen when you play a team from far away.playing memorial(5a),crosby or maybe a baytown team(4a),then a local 3a wo-s,silsbee,bc,etc is a nice schedule.

Thanks to Rick Perry, School budgets will allow less and less of these great experiences for our kids.

The only problem with that is that typically the schools representing Texas have been 5A schools :( I agree though, it would be really cool to see us there and fill up Jerry's world witha sea of purple. This year's crowd was just okay, but no where near the crowd that was at the playoff games from last year. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 games had out of state teams that did not travel that well (florida mainly)..the other two were somewhat close in LA and OK.
