Morse, NCAA rule change

I believe the NCAA recently changed a rule and now allows redshirt freshman to play in blowouts or due to injury at their position. Adam Morse was called a sophomore in a news report about Lamars game. Did that rule retroactively give him his redshirt season?

I think so.

I could be wrong but I think he was activated as a freshman but redshirted last year as a sophomore.
