Most expensive Texas high school indoor practice facilities

Agree. I say this with the utmost respect for my hometowns, but PN-G is a paradox.

Some of the greatest support on the planet for football and other sports, but that support is very limited in unexpected ways. Inconsistent may be the best word.

Able to fill large stadiums with record setting crowds, but then at times challenged to travel more than a few thousand to stadiums within easy driving distance.

Quick to self proclaim as the best fans in the state, but unable to gather enough community support and finances to build an indoor facility.

I just don't know if there was enough outreach to the community to fund the indoor practice facility. I knew about it because I attend booster club meetings, and I'm sure there was a tid bit in my season ticket flyer (but I never really read that); other than that, I don't recall receiving any other kind of notice about it. It's hard to get people to donate when they don't know there's something to donate to.

There were stories in the PA News and Beaumont Enterprise, on local television news channels, and on the PN-GISD webiste. I'm not sure what more could have been done to inform the public. Coach Faircloth lined up two individuals to donate $100K a piece, the school board had meetings about the ISD's donation of land and infrastructure, and construction bids were discussed at school board meetings as reported by the PA News. If PN-GISD missed someone wanting to donate, I would be shocked. The truth is there a lots of PN-G fans that want to attend games and complain about wins and losses, and everyone likes to remember 1999 and 1974-1977, but there are very few fans and alumni that want to financially support the program to keep up with the elite programs like Aledo, Odessa Permian, Highland Park, Katy, and other programs in Houston, the Cen-Tex region, or the Metroplex. Everyone seems to think deep pocket alums or local refineries should fit the bill. We need to find 1,000 PN-G alums each committed to donating $2,500. That is $2.5M. Then, you can ask deep pocket alums and local refineries in the ISD to make a contribution for the finishing touches.

Go Indians. Peace.

Just a few ideas of ways we could have reached more people:
-Have a large rendering of the proposed facility and a donation pot set up at each entrance of the football stadium for every home game
-Have the Booster club put a letter in the mail boxes of every Port Neches and Groves resident
-Have former class representatives contact their classmates to let them know what was in the works and how to donate
-Send out blasts on social media

News papers, school board meetings, and TV news is great;but I think we needed a bigger audience to garner the donations we needed to pull it off.

I, personally, don't get a newspaper or seek out local news articles online. I really only read the PA News or Bmt Ent articles when they are shared on this site or on facebook. I don't have children, so the only reason I have to visit the PNGISD website is to check the season schedule or game times/ locations if I needed to. I don't generally make it a habit of attending school board meetings (though I probably should) unless there is something 'major' going on (and there's never many people there when I do go). Hell, I don't even make it a point to watch the news most days. Now, I am just one person out of thousands, so all that may not mean much. Just wanted to point out how easy it could have been for me to miss what what going on, were it not for this site and being a season ticket holder and booster club member. What we really needed was for someone to set up a "GoFundMe" page, and share the snot out of it on facebook, twitter, and instagram.

Just my two cents...

All good ideas. I'll see if we can get the PN-G ABC to send out a letter and set-up a Go Fund Me page.
