:welcome:The PNG Criminal Justice Dept at the school repainted and cleaned up and landscaped the corner at Merriman and Pure Atlantic by Jack in the Box. Makes the welcome look great. Looks like the changes are spreading to other area's as well ! The "I" really stands out now. Its now Purple with white rock around it with purple flowers ! Looks Awesome and its a good impression for the school ! I was told they are replacing the sign there as well with a new one ! The CJ teacher told me she also wants to take down the old Palm tree's and landscape the back side of the "I" with some purple and white crape myrtles and see what she can do to put in some spot lights. If someone can donate or help on that I'm sure they would take anything ! Amelia Lawn Care & Landscaping donated alot of the materials and brought out some men to help and the CJ dept bought some other materials with fund raiser money. This is what we need for our district ! Putting the pride back into the "I" and the school !

To whom do we send donations? Teacher's name, address, etc. Or, do we send it to the school administration in c/o the Criminal Justice Dept.?

If the school administration, teachers, and students would use this website and message board to post fundraisers, etc., they might be pleasantly surprised at the feedback and response they would receive. In the past, we've raised hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars for a misting fan and other athletic needs. If someone will post the information as to who receives the funds, I will send a donation to the PN-G Criminal Justice Dept. so they can continue their efforts to beautify the PN-G campus and restore pride in The Reservation. I know of other alumni who will do the same.

Go Indians. Peace.

I am going to suggest that they buy the smaller crepe myrtles and let them grow. They grow very fast and will be easier to handle when planting them. They are not that expensive in the 5 gal can. I think Lowes has them for $20 or so...maybe even $15, I can't remember, but not expensive as other plants. I will be happy to donate some $$$ for this - I am glad they took the time to revive that corner.

The person in charge of the Criminal Justice program at PNG is Mrs. Celeste Cormier. You can contact her at the high school or message me and I can send you her cell phone number. I'm sure she would be blown away with all the support. By the way I am a parent of 6 kids in the PNG system. One already gradutated another this year, one next year and one starting high school next year and then 2 more following.

More projects like this would not only start to make the high school property look better, it will also give the students something to be proud of and look back on. ;D

Idea: maybe the school district could start some type of program like the highway department has. You know the adopt a highway program. Several of the high school's extra cir. programs (example: student council, cheerleaders, band, football players, OIA, AIA, drama club, vocational programs, etc..) could adopt a section of the school property to fix up and keep beautiful.

Heck, maybe even some of the alumni could get together and adopt a section also.

Well the one who already graduated played on the team that went to the last playoffs. The next one coming up is in 8th grade and will be a freshman next year. He is already 5'10" 205lbs. Sorry but all the others are girls !

I agree I think it could be something very contagious with the students. I would also like to see some landscaping along the fence behind the scoreboard.

I passed by the "I" today - looks good!!! And the palm trees do need to go...they look like they took a beating form the hurricane. My crepe myrtles are still standing from the hurricane(s) - some of the older ones in the neighborhood didn't make it - mine are 15 or 20 ft tall and still going strong. Very durable plant and they bloom... ;D

 I agree the palm tree's have had their time. Once they put up the new sign I really hope that there would be a way to install some lights with timers to shine on the "I" and the sign. I just don't know if there is a power source available there. As far as landscaping goes. I would add some White and Purple blooming C. Myrtles in a arch behind the sign but only go half way down the side of the "I" and be about 15-20' away from the "I" so as not to completely block its view. I will call Mrs. Cormier today and try to set up a day for the palm tree's to be cut down and hauled out ! Once I know more I will post it and if folks want to help it would be great ! I also have her number if anyone wants to call her.

If we had a booster club at the school, then the booster club could really be involved in alot of this activity as well with a sub committee and the many different clubs at the school.
