Nex Game: Indians vs. Dayton Broncos

The anticipation, excitement and unfortunate disappointment of week 4 is done.

Time for fans and team to wipe the slate. Time for the team to take the good and work on the bad.

Positives:
Dominated the first half and started the second in a similar fashion against what is supposed to be one of the better teams in the district. Easily moved the ball on the ground and through the air. Some key turnovers and mistakes on the final 4 drives stopped the positive momentum and proved to be insurmountable. Those offensive mistakes can be corrected leading to competitive wins against similar or better competition.

The defense stopped multiple 4th down attempts and demonstrated some excellent protection in the secondary.

There are many more positives than negatives to take away from that performance. It was entirely winnable.

Opportunities:
Continuous improvement is key to all teams. The coaches and players will identify what needs to be focused on. End result a tougher and better team will go into week 5 on a mission. Tougher opponents are ahead but the tools are in place to compete against any team in 12-5A. Anything is possible and the Indians need only to strive to improve the things that went wrong and play with a vengeance against every opponent for the next 6 weeks and beyond.

Scalp ‘em Indians!

I definitely agree with your assessment, this is how I saw it also. Sometimes things don't go your way, but I don't think this team has hit anywhere close to the ceiling. Nederland lost to us last year first game and ended up Co-district champs and 3 rds deep. I think that could be our potential, it all depends on how you come back from this. Shake it off, learn from it and get after it.

I watched a replay of the Nederland game. I hope we go back to the run game. The counter, the draw, and the straight handoff to Trahan where he picks a hole and goes north/south. It worked last week. Get back to that game plan. Be selective in the passing game. Hard to win when you have 4 TOs and 15 yard penalties. On defense, keep the bodies fresh. Last week, as the game wore on, the kids were tired. When tired, you arm tackle and get out position. Here's to a good week of practice and getting back to winning ways. The Indians can regroup and get back on track this week. Winning is a habit. This week is a good one to start that habit. Go Indians.

The offense chewed up that Nederland defense almost at will until the wheels came off. Either Nederland has a weak defense or this offense is potent. Probably somewhere in between those two extremes. Very encouraging that the offense is finally beginning to fire on at least most cylinders. Chance Prosperie and Koby Trahan were the two best offensive players on the field for either team. Look for them to continue making big plays. Crippen was firing some lasers and looked the best he has all season but still has a few things he will improve on which was not unexpected.
