Players to watch: QB Jonathan Martin (5-9, 170, 4.8), DL Christian Gladney (5-10, 260, 4.9), LB Brian Jackson (5-10, 220, 4.8), OL Weston Davis (6-5, 280), LB Anthony Hawkins (6-0, 220, 4.7), OL Trevanti Davis (6-4, 290). Top juniors: RB Athean Renfro (5-8, 225, 4.8), WR Trelyn Porchia (6-4, 200, 4.7). Top sophomore: ATH Gilbert Anderson III (5-8, 145, 4.6).

Other prospects: OL/DL Jacob Green, RB Garieus Coleman, OL Antonio Lewis, DB Cameron Mickles, WR Jaylan Moore.

2022 notes: Beaumont United makes the move up from Class 5A Division I into one of the state’s toughest 6A districts and they’ll do it with a new head coach as Beaumont native Darrell Colbert arrives after turning things around at Houston Westbury. Colbert says QB Martin (692 yards, 5 TDs passing), “is poised for a great senior season,” and he’ll lead the Timberwolves attack. The offensive line is led by juniors Weston and Trevanti Davis, both of whom are FBS levelt talents in the trenches. The defense is led by disruptive junior DL Gladney (32 tackles, 7 TFL), “Gladney has a non-stop motor and plays sideline-to-sideline,” Colbert said. LB Hawkins is the leader of the defense and is also an FBS level recruit. Colbert says overall depth with the jump to Class 6A will be a big concern going into 2022.
