PN-G school board gets LanWalton bond updates
By GREG HAYES
October, 14, 2008
Lamar Urbanovsky, management group LanWalton's director and educational program manager, said that some change orders will be coming on the Port Neches-Groves High School football stadium when he gave the bond report at the school board meeting Tuesday.
"You have about $180,000 in a contingency fund," he said. "You are going to be at or above that amount by the time you finish this project."
Superintendent Lani Randall said that she received some complaints about the new stadium at the first game there Friday, Oct. 10.
"There is a curb near the entrance that is a tripping hazard," she said. "The concession area is darker than it needs to be and the air conditioning units in the concession areas need to be adjusted."
A lot of concern has been brought up about handicapped seating as well, Randall said, as they cannot keep people from walking in front of the handicapped seating area, try as they may.
"We can't just rope it off because that could get the fire marshal after us," she said.
"Urbanovsky also said that the high school is a little behind schedule and that dollars on supplies are going up due to the effects of Hurricane Ike. Other projects around the district are progressing close to plan.
