Groveton names Matthew Woodard as new HFC/AD

It is awesome to see coaches that leave PNG have the ability the become HFC/AD at other School Districts. Mentorship by great leaders help enable those opportunities.

Port Neches-Groves coach Matt Woodard will have a new role at a new school next season.

Woodard served as the defensive coordinator for the Indians last year during PNG’s playoff run.

He was named the head coach for Groveton High School this week.

New PNG Head Coach Jeff Joseph hired Matt McDaniel in February to be the defensive coordinator for the 2022 season.

Coaching has to be one of the most unfair jobs out there. Not saying anything was out of order here. But I’d say he did a great job as well as Faircloth.

And then there’s my Jr High football coach who -if it was today- WOULD have criminal charges brought and probably still should have even in the early 80s. (And nothing happened to him is my point). I have horror stories of that guy- but back then it seemed normal. They did coke every single day before practice in their office. And that was the mediocre happenings.
