Realignment

I'm not quite ready to move on from football just yet, so just trying to keep some of y'all around for a little longer! ;D. Any thoughts on the upcoming realignment? Don't know how easy it's gonna be to say we are in 20-5A...lol! Sounds like things will stay pretty much the same, with the exception of possibly gaining Memorial , and LCM dropping to the new 4A, but that's just speculation at this point! I just hope our schedule stays the same so we can have the first Bum Phillips Bowl at the Res...it would be torture to have to visit the Dog Pound 2 years in a row!

I'm hoping Livingston gets moved out of our district, and maybe adding Dayton or Barbers Hill. A lot closer and better stadiums. PAM dropping down will make this district a lot more competitive.

UIL has said they will release the numbers in November, but wont know who's in what district until February. :-[

yeah lots of speculation. Actually we stand to possibly lose LCM and Lumberton. I would hope like heck they move Livingston to another district. I don't see PAM moving down. Their numbers seem to still be up there. So if the case is LCM and Lumberton and Livingston are out we would be: PNG, Nederland, Central, Ozen and Vidor. So we could end up with Dayton and/or Barbers hill. I'm thinking the lowest amount of district games they would accept would be 6. JMO. But, we don't know what in the world the UIL will do. They have shocked me before. Once the official cut off numbers are out then we will know who we lose and possibly who we gain.

We have 8 in district now and 19 4A has 9. For sure I see LC-M moving down, they can just pop one of 19 4A's over to us.

Who would we rather have Dayton or Barbers Hill? I for one like being the only PURPLE on the block.

I don't see PAM moving down either.

Question: Why are the enrollment numbers in the PN-GISD declining? When I was in school during the late 1980s we had an enrollment of 1,600+ (9 - 12). In the late 1990s, those numbers were still the same ~1600 +/- 100. Now, PN-GISD is down to 1390. Where is everyone going? Why? I would think PN-G would be growing. Where else can you get the best education in SE Texas?

Go Indians. Peace.

Yeah, I don't see PAM moving down either, but it was thrown out there as a possibility! I'm totally fine with losing Livingston! Not taking anything away from their program, they have added some great competition over the years, but their facilities are awful, and their fans just don't travel, which makes for a poor game atmosphere! And they have Reba...that's enough right there...lol! I agree there is only room for 1 purple and white team, so I prefer Barbies Hill...lol! Who knows what the UIL Gods will come up with!

Just my opinion, but I think it has a lot to do with our declining economy! Maybe folks leave to find better jobs, or they lose their job and can't afford housing here! Real estate in PN and Groves is pretty pricey considering you can buy a good size house and/or acreage in Mauriceville, HF, Orangefield, BC, Lumberton...etc, for equal or much less than the price of a avg size home on a tiny lot here! And they have good schools too! Being land locked certainly doesn't help either! Lots of people are moving out of Nederland too, but I think there's a different reason for that, again, just my opinion based on what I've heard! We are looking at building a house, and have gone back and forth about whether to stay here and pay the huge price tag for a lot, or build somewhere else and get much more for less! But, I just can't stand the thought of leaving The Reservation! At least not til my son graduates in 8 years!

I would attribute that to an aging population and the fact that even though the Texas economy is booming, the Golden Triangle is not. I think young people go to where the jobs and careers are, as I did and many others. Houston, Dallas and Austin are three of the most opportunity rich cities in the nation right now. Also, people have fewer kids these days on average. Just one opinion, I could be wrong.

Yeah, that too! I have lots of classmates that live in the Houston area and most of them would love to move back and raise their children as Indians, even though they attend schools with good education, great extra curricular activities, and tradition rich football programs, but they say none of them can compare to the Honor, Pride, and Tradition of PNG! But, the $ in their chosen careers is much better where they are. That's just the way it is today! I'm just thankful that my husband and I both have great paying jobs here, but if that ever changed, then we would do what is necessary to support our family!

Lumberton is the only school in our district with increased numbers and they were paltry at best. Looks like LCM, Livingston and Lumberton could drop. And dont be so sure PAM wont fall below the final cutoff number based on the expected number of schools the UIL wants in each class. Currently 5A and 4A have about 55 more schools each than 3A and 2A. the UIL wants to even it out, which means the new 6A number will jump as will the new bottom 5A number. Also PAM is right there with Dallas Highland Park and we all know they aint going up to 6A!!!

PAM

Vidor

the highschool has been in the 1400 range for a long time.the numbers in the elementary schools have been going up.my sons grade I think is the biggest png has ever had or in a really long time.may take a few years to hit the highschool.i know that we just had almost 80 kids sign for 8u little dribblers.the most in the past was 40.i think the other age groups are much larger as well.know of several kids moving to pngisd from neighboring districts.i bet within 5 to 7 years were in the 1600 range.being landlocked is a good thing.tear down the old and build new.if you want to be in png schools you just have to be creative.
