One thing we saw on the monitor at the end of the game:

For a DVD of tonight's game call PNGHS for the complete game including half-time shows for $10.

PORT ARTHUR — The Port Arthur News Friday Night Experience is returning for a 19th year of tape delayed high school football telecasts and it will be expanding its horizons.

FNE executive producer Jim Barton, on Wednesday, finalized an agreement with Time Warner that calls for games to be shown on its sports channel in virtually all areas of Texas. Logistics are still being worked out on air times, but what is nailed down is that the initial showing each week will be at noon Sunday for Time Warner digital subscribers in Southeast Texas on either channel 888 or 1888.

There will be additional airings during the week.

“We’ve come a long way from doing four games in 1995 and struggling to get them on.” said Barton. “This is really exciting for me and I’d think it would certainly be exciting for area players and coaches to know that their games will be seen in Dallas-Fort Worth, San Antonio, the Rio Grande Valley, El Paso and places in between.”

Tonight’s FNE opener will feature Port Arthur Memorial at Beaumont Central. Other September games include West Orange-Stark at Port Neches-Groves, Angleton at Nederland, Houston Bellaire at Port Arthur Memorial and Vidor at Nederland. Also on the 11-game schedule are Galena Park North Shore at Port Arthur Memorial, Port Neches-Groves at Nederland and Beaumont West Brook at Port Arthur Memorial.

Mike Sheffield of Sheffield Productions will produce the telecasts, with Charles Jehlen doing the play-by-play and Bob West providing commentary.

In addition to the Time Warner sports channel, the telecasts will be available over KFDM.com on Sunday afternoons and on panews.com via Youtube on Tuesdays and throughout the week.

Barton’s Friday Night Experience has become a major player in schoolboy football productions across Texas. It’s involved in some form or fashion with Fox Football Friday programming, the Legacy Sports Network, which carries internet broadcasts of some 30 teams, CSN Houston’s high school football package and FoxSportsSouthwest.com video streaming.

“It all started with the Port Arthur News Friday Night Experience,” said Barton, who also does production for University Interscholastic League playoff events. “The News has been a great partner and so has Sheffield productions. The promotional efforts of setxsports.com have really helped. Of course, WE couldn’t have sustained for so long without some loyal sponsors.”

Long-time sponsors of the Friday Night Experience include Lamar State College-Port Arthur, the Museum of the Gulf Coast, Five Point Credit Union, Market Basket and Motiva Enterprises.

Stepping up in recent years have been The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Lamar University-Beaumont, Community Bank, DuPont Goodrich Federal Credit Union, Mike Fuljenz of Universal Coin and Bullion and former PN-G football star Robert Giblin.

Watched the video. This offense might be unstoppable if they can avoid injuries, turnovers and stupid penalties.
Walker looks like a young Drew Brees at times with great ability to throw the ball accurately on the run. And he's quick and elusive. There are at least three outstanding receivers (#3,#5,#10) to throw the ball to. And #27 not only outran a fast WO-S defense, he actually pulled away from them on a couple of long runs.

A lot to look forward to this season. I like their chances in 20-4A.

Yes #27 Brant Halfin has good speed as he has shown on several occassions, but the complement to him at RB that has been injured since the TC scrimmage is sophomore #11 Cody Cropper and he may be the fastest PNG back since, well you know who! The kid is F-A-S-T. And I mean football speed not just track speed.

I see a dynamic 1-2 punch when he gets healthy soon.

That's awesome. Halfin had enough fuel in his jets to run off and leave WO-S and their vaunted group of D1 talent. ;)

Having an even faster back is really going to spread the field thin for opposing defenses. They'll never know what's next.
