A lot of people are mourning his passing. Great man, great coach and a big reason for the Indians success in the 70s. Tremendous offensive line coach who could motivate a player to believe in themselves and to run through walls. An enduring memory of those successful years is how 150-170 pound lineman were able to outsmart, outwork and win against opponents who outweighed them by 50+ pounds. Size did not matter. Coach Troy will always be remembered.

Prayers for his family, he was a good man. I knew him as a coach and Driver's Ed instructor. If he couldn't get a student driver to go fast enough he'd reach across and down, and press the driver's foot (on the accelerator) with his hand. Once after I was done driving, he had me pull over in front of a house on Sara Jane Rd. I got out and walked around the car, and the new driver was walking around the car to the driver's side, when 4 or 5 large dogs suddenly came from around the house we were in front of and attacked the car. We quickly jumped in, but the new driver wouldn't go, for fear of running over a dog. Coach Troy couldn't get him to go, so he reached over, put the car into Drive, then reached down with his hand and pressed the accelerator with his hand. The dogs, of course, moved out of the way, and we were on our way. "Just for that", Coach Troy said, "you're going to drive us over the Rainbow Bridge, to Bridge City."
