Is it customary for school board members to attend award banquets for the students?

In the Districts I have worked they all do it differently. School Board members can go/do what they want-for the most part- Sullivan may attend because of his son others maybe to mingle and shake some voters hands --- remember bond issue up for vote -- that is the gauge of SB and Sups success no adays

I, for one, wouldn't want our SB members to feel that they MUST attend every event that the school holds. They'd have to quit their regular jobs! There's always something going on somewhere. And the FB banquet, although a special night, is really just another event.
They should have the latitude to attend what they want (or feel they need) to attend, without speculation from the constituents.
