Scrimmage

Hearing we looked really good early. Got up 17-7 after the kicker nailed a 42 yarder against the wind. LC-M evened up the score after we started putting in the reserves, but we still walked away with a 24-21 Indian "win."

EDIT: The score may have been 24-14 PN-G. I'm hearing both. All accounts agree that LC-M only started to open up on offense after our second string came in.

I'm an out-of-town alum...I'm hoping someone local will post about the scrimmage. Updates on the good things, some of the things needing improvement, and letting us know that no one got injured. Here's to a good report. Go Indians.

We had a couple of starters set it out for whatever reasons. The Indians marched right down first possession and scored. The next possession the hit a 32 yard field goal. The third possession we drove down and scored. Ngyuen ran with power often carrying 2 or 3 Bears on his back. Chattinger is bigger but hasn't lost his speed. He slipped through the holes with speed and accuracy. He looks so much better this season. He is not running straight up and down and he is bending in his hips. They both looked really sharp. So 17-0. Then on a 3rd down play late in the half the RB from LCM was caught in the backfield pursuit stopped and somehow he slipped out and hit wide open field out the left block. The young 10th grade DB ran him down from the right side of the field and caught him at the 10. They still took 4th down to get into the endzone. Then after half both teams put in non-starters. Not much happened after that. Bailey made a couple of really amazing throws. He still has a little maturing to do ( maybe catch up to game speed). The force is strong with this young one. So late in the 3rd PNG made it to the 32 and the FG kicker (whomever he is drilled a 42 yarder into a stiff breeze. After this while PNG was working on the 2nd/3rd string Peevy slipped his starting offense back into the game. They were able (though not easily) get another TD. PNG's defense was very good. The young 10th grade DE had either two or three sacks and a couple of tackles in the backfield. The final non-score score was 20-14. Our defense was in the backfield the entire game even the second string. Many sacks would have happened if they could have. The receiver's dropped a few first downs our the score would have been more. We have to remember LCM had another week of practice and another scrimmage before playing us. Next week will be a huge test. PAM scrimmaged WB last week and the final was PAM 21-WB-0. WB scrimmaged Nederland WB-14 Nederland 12 last posted score. Then PAM-27 Spring Legacy-21. Just some info. Keep in mind these were only scrimmages. PNGs defense looks like it will have another strong season. The offense has some growing to do still. The potential is definitely there. What is really good is the underclassmen are some really talented players to go with the senior class of 2023.
