I would like to thank the school board and administration for getting the right coach for the job. I know we had allot of opinions flying around everywere we went. The websites were smoking hot with topics of PNG and secrecy and even conspiracy. There was the masters requirement which had us doomed from the start or so it was said. Then there was the list which was the biggest high school conspiracy in modern times in SETX or so it was said. Then there was applicants who removed there names before they interviewed, during there interview, and applicants who did not even apply. There was offers made to and from coaches who were not associated with the process. There was media thrashings of PNG, and Newspaper articles of doom, even nights of the round table discussions on TV. The fans from all the other school in the area had there opinions also, most not so good. There was lynch mobs and special sessions spoke of and emergency votes to remove board members. There was jokes made and FOI's filed and Attorney General's opinions sought. There were.................wait a sec there was applications filed in a timely order there was a list posted by the letter of the law. Then we had a list of coaches who were fantastic from top to bottom with one of the greatest of all time with one of the best of now time and with allot of the best from the future. Then there were no coaches who were hired that did not apply. There were no coaches hired who did not have a masters. There were no laws broken. There were no school board members voted out. In the end the School Board, the Hiring Committee, and the Administration seemed to somehow find the right guy for the job. What an amazing feat considering all the things that were supposed to happen according to the media and all those people who are not from Port Neches or Groves.
Congratulations to you from one Indian Fan
Great Job and Thanks for providing my school and my children with the best opportunity to be competitive for years to come.

While I am happy with the choice, I am not happy about all the stuff we had to go thru to arrive at this decision.

I understand what you're saying, but it's quite possible that "all the stuff" enabled us to get Coach Faircloth. It's unfortunate that this is how the game has to be played some times.

It did all work out in the end. I say we forget about the past and move on to a bright future with a ruthless, Faircloth-style, bulldog-beatin' (No offense, yankeedawg.) football team and a new era of purple pride.

I'm certain that Coach Faircloth brings PNG football back to the level that it once enjoyed, both for the school and the fans alike. It's unfortunate, however, that the process had to take the route it did in order to get him. I'm looking forward to a rejuvenated PNG football program and the continuation of the best dang rivalry in Texas football with the Dawgs.

No offense taken Bandkid. We'll see what happens when MCM '09 rolls around. (Geeeesh, it's like 8 months away... :-( )

Sounds like NDNS81 wants their cake and eat it too!!!
No, sounds like no one but you can have an opinion. This should not be made into a personal issue! He/she has a right to an opinion, also, even if you disagree with it. Feel free to state your opinion, but DO NOT make judgements about others whom you know nothing about.

Ditto...Good Post. Even if BF doesn't turn around the program like we think, he appears to be what the community is lloking for at this time. Young, energetic, great background with great programs, very innovative, appears to be hard working, and a strong Christian.

Squaw, let it go!

As I've stated previously, I am ecstatic about the selection of BF. It is the remark about NDN81 made by Purple Rain I was responding to. I think he was out of line when he made personal remarks. Believe me, I've let it go as far as how the selection was done. It's over and done with and hopefully we'll reap the benefits of having a great HC.

Purple Rain feel free to ignore my post. There are plenty of people that feel our school made an excellent decision on WHO they picked as the HC/AD, as do I, I just don't like HOW it was done. Enough said about this - it is strictly my opinion and I do not have to keep it to myself, the rest of you don't so neither am I.

We may want to move this to Community Concerns -

Purple Rain you tell me why all of this other stuff had to happen, but keep in mind I will know if you are just blowing smoke.

Rather than starting up another debate, why not focus on the end result? The reasons for the methods have been explained over and over and were not unique. Mission accomplished. Good job by all.

Point taken, I'm just tired of everyone living with their head in the sand. More to the story than hit the papers.

I have not expressed an opinion on this because enough people had, but after having talked to those who served on the committee I am quite content knowing that much prayer and thought was offered so the right man would be selected for PNG. After hearing the details, I realize that is exactly what happened, God took care of the situation and provided who he wanted for PNG.

A different perspective does not qualify as 'living with head in sand'. There's more to the story involving some aspects of the final candidates that few will ever know, but that's already in the past. Bottom line is the selection committee did a commendable job and deserve praise and recognition.

I for one believe that there are good people on the school board and selection committee that care about the community and district just as much and probably more than the critics who snip at their every move.

You are exactly right, there are some great people on the board and selection committee and I am VERY happy with their choice. I commend them for a job well done and will leave the process and methods aside. I do, however, disagree with the last statement regarding the fact that they care "more" about this community and district than those that snip at their every move. The snipping comes from caring whether it appears that way or not. In fact, I may actually have a plan for them to increase their revenue and it involves the old bank building. I have some research to do to see if this would be allowed, but the district owns the property already - why not make some money off of it. I just don't know if they can own it in the capasity that I am thinking of......I plan to ask about it tomorrow.
