I like Wade Phillips as a PN-G Indian and Houston Cougar, and I think he is a super person that has proudly represented PN-G on a national stage (he is never afraid to say he is a proud PN-G Indian, Class of 1965), but he will not fix the problems of the Houston Texans. He will, undoubtedly, make the defense better, but he will not make Gary Kubiak a better head coach, i.e., better in-game decisions, time management, game day preparations and having the team ready to play 60 minutes, having a 17-0 lead on the road and then giving Arian Foster the ball a mere 5 times in the 2nd half (see Denver game), evaluating talent (drafting Kareem Jackson, Brian Cushing-lite without the PED juice, Frank Okam, Glover Quinn, etc.), teaching Matt Schaub to grow a pair of stones and stand tall in the pocket to make NFL throws vs. folding like a wet paper bag anytime he sees a blitz, and this list could go on and on. I'n not sure Wade Phillips knows what he is getting into with Kubi-lack.

If McNair keeps Kubiak, then my wife and I will keep our $4,500 per year, release our 2 PSLs, and spend our entertainment dollars elsewhere. I'm tired of the mediocre results. The only worthwhile expereince during the past 2 years has been the tailgating. But, we can tailgate at home for a lot cheaper. Gary Kubiak carries around an extral large breakfast menu (play sheet) on the sideline, and his results are jack squat. PN-G's Brandon Faircloth has it all in his head, reads the defense, takes what the defense gives him, signals in a play, and gets results. I'll take Coach Faircloth at the high school level ... heck, I'd take him at the NFL level.

Time to toast Kubiak.

Go Indians. Not knocking Wade Phillips. Peace.

Wade has taken over as DC of 4 teams in his NFL coaching career all with losing records. All of those reached the playoffs in their very first season under his watch. I know there is more than just defense to making the playoffs and turn a losing team around. They however probably would not have made it without his defense doing its part. Just saying.

C'mon 89! Don't hold out on us! Tell us what's on your mind! :)

It's been a frustrating year in 2010 at Reliant Stadium. Our best player, Andre Johnson, will not be the best WR in the NFL very much longer. His window to win a championship will start closing soon. I'd like for AJ to win in the playoffs. I like Arian Foster, too ... he's a tough north-south runner. Kubes does not use him in the best of situations, but he's a good one at RB. Frustrating year ... time for Kubes to go.

Go Indians. Peace.

1989NDN...I agree with you 100 percent. I am so sick of Kubiak that I could puke. Wade Phillips is a great DC, but is a bad fit with the Texans. They need someone to kick them in the butt and bring an attitude to this team. They do not have the mental toughness and winning attitude that it takes to make the most of of the talent they have. They need a Cowher type coach to come in and instill toughness and attitude in the organization. Nothing against Phillips, but his laid back personality would not work in Houston. He would be a better fit with a hard-nosed Head Coach. If Bob McNair ran his business the way he runs the Texans he would be bankrupt. Unbelievable that a successful businessman would accept the sad state that are the Texans.

Phillips' defenses
Just once in Wade Phillips’ long NFL tenure has he failed to improve a defense after taking over as either the head coach or defensive coordinator. Ironically, the only time it didn’t happen was when he joined defensive mastermind Buddy Ryan’s staff in Philadelphia. Also, that was also the only time Phillips coached a 4-3 alignment instead of his trademark 3-4.
