Not much discussion here anymore. Surprising given that the season is here. Has everyone moved on to other places?

Nope. I'm still here. I have not seen the team play, yet. I will see them next week vs. Clear Lake. I visit the website and read this message board every day. I do not live in the area. I keep up with PN-GISD through the website and message board. After reading the few comments on this forum about the 2015 Indians, I am looking forward to a good season. Here's to an injury-free season with the Indians on the warpath.

Go Indians. Peace.

Hoping to hear some details from local folks who attended the scrimmage.

Both Offensive and Defensive Lines need a lot of work. The defense is tackling a little better, but seen a lot of arm tackling. We will struggle against teams with tall Receivers as our DB's are short. We lack size on both sides of the ball. Punting is another issue, Morse punted last night and his first punt was about 5 yards but he improved thru out the night. We will also struggle in the kick off game!! Hate the pouch kicks!!!!!

I agree 100% re: kicking game. I do not like pooch kicks and I never have. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for giving your opponent the ball at midfield. Kick the ball down the field and ask your special teams to go make a tackle. Find 11 kids who will run down the field and make a tackle. The kids who play on special team should consider themselves starters...they start on special teams. Take pride in that fact and go make a big play for the team. I had the kicking game on my list to see vs. Clear Lake. Thanks for the heads-up justafan. If the Indians are going to have a deep playoff run, they will need a good kicker who is rock solid on PATs and will kick a 25 - 30 yard FG with ease. Go to the soccer program and find a kicker. I'll be interested to see the OL and DL. Looking forward to a short driver over to CCISD to see Lake host PN-G.

Go Indians. Peace.

Year after year - I am continually surprised that we can field a district championship and playoff run in Soccer - yet we can not put a good kicking game on the field for Football.

We are taking a HUGE chance having Morse punting and kicking. It's just going to take one dirty play for a defensive opposing player to cross that line and be willing to take a penalty or possible ejection with the hopes of tackling Morse hard with the intention of taking him out of the game. Then what?

We have a defense that needs work - yet we are willing to give the opponent the ball just a few yards of where our offense ends up on 4th down???? I will never understand that logic.

GO NDN's!

Both O and D lines need work, alot of work. I know West Brook is huge, but the O line made to many mistakes. Morse on the Ground I think 2 times. Run blocking was terrible, only success against WB 1st team was outside the tackles. D line had basically 0 push against WB 1st team. The team needs more size up front on both sides of the ball. I agree that our secondary is smaller. Tall receivers will hurt us. Kicking game, Morse does not need to be punting, reason, keep him from getting injured. I think our field goal kicker will be okay.
Now, to win a DC and go deep coaches need to play some boys both ways when needed. JV has some big O linemen that may need to be tried out on Varsity. We need to have a running game. We have to have a D line push. Without these alot of games will be closer than they should be. Have to give Morse more time to throw.
Passing game is great on the short throws. With more protection the long passing game will be awesome.

PN-G has a soccer player who is kicking fieldgoals. I have a eeling he will be very good at fieldgoals this season. The kid has a very strong leg. Our Oline is missing a starter and our d-line is akso missing a starter. I hope this will settle them down on the lines. We will not see another line that big anytime soon if at all this season. The Indians. have work to do no doubt but they are going to be pretty good this season.

Height and weights are never listed anymore. Any idea on the size of the starters on the O and D lines?

Couldn't say for sure, but next to WB's, ours looked to be about 27#. :faint:

As far as pooch kicks go, I hate them too, but the problem is, we don't have anyone that can boot it to the end zone. So, you're either gonna give it to the best return man on the 15, or the guys that aren't used to handling the ball on the 30. Tough call.

WB had 1 lineman that was 6'5" 335 pounder and a nother 300+ the others were all heavier than anyone on our team. Our dline is about a 220 lb average

Once upon a time 220-230 pound average would have been a decent sized line. ;)

More telling is how strong, quick and mean is this group.

WB biggest three on o-line 6'5" 335, 6'4" 330 and 6'3" 320. Our biggest D-line is Valentine at 6'1" 265 and Langston about 6'2" not sure of weight and missing Morris for now. They have bigger size than most D1 colleges and the the defensive calls were more vanilla with no stunts and blitzing and played the run most of the night.
