I would also nominate Allen Herrington who is currently with the San Diego Padres organization. He is a great left-handed pitcher.

David Mire - All-District in his junior year and All-District, All-State and District MVP his senior year with a .448 batting average. All-American baseball player at Sam Houston in 1977. He was recently inducted into the SHSU Hall of Honor -

WHERE ARE THEY NOW — Dave Mire: Indian, Pony, Bearkat, now Hall of Honor inductee

Mire was also a standout receiver on the 1972 football team. 20 receptions for 482yds and 5 TDs. And keep in mind this was done on a team running the wishbone (only 7 TD passes total that year). I remember him having excellent hands and moves before and after the catch. A little more speed and he would have been the Cotton Speyrer of that team. Even so he still received a football scholarship offer from Rice.

Gene Noble - All-District in as a junior and senior (1963/1964). Pitcher and outfielder, but best known as an excellent hitter with power. BA was around .450 both years. Played at Blinn in 1965 as an outfielder. Hit .375 and led the team in RBIs. This got him a bonus contract with the Astros in 1965. Played in the minor leagues through 1969 - Gene Noble.
