You can be the biggest guy on the field, but if you don’t block the right guy because you don’t recognize the play dynamics, or make other mental mistakes, the team suffers. You have to know your assignment 100% of the time, what your teammates assignments are, and have a good understanding of your opponent’s tendencies before the ball is ever kicked off. And the one thing that not everyone is born with regardless of size, killer instincts. A mean streak.
Offensive linemen often don’t get the recognition or praise they deserve. They are the tip of the spear. If they don’t do their job the skill players will not succeed and the offense will never realize it’s potential.
