Who are the best PN-G football players you’ve ever seen?

You have to consider Gordon Leboeuf when you talk about running backs. I Don't think anyone has broken his total yards rushing record. He played defense also. Bobby Laborde wasn't bad either. I think his rushing yards total is about 1500 yards behind Gordon's but Bobby was not the starter...

    Fastest players in PN-G history?

I agree with pngfanatic on Earl Sheffield in the 50s. As a '53 football teammate I remember the story that he ran a 9.8 100 yd dash in the ninth grade.

    Football - Offense

How about Jackie Hathorn . QB, DB, K and P. All District 1953, 1954 and 1955. Played in the stone age when the QB called the plays and not the coaches.

    Preserving history

IndianFan, I have all the programs from the 1953 state championship season plus the program from the 1954 Cotton Bowl game between Rice and Alabama. We got to go that game. That is the game where Danny Lewis of Alabama jumped off the bench and tackled Dick Meagle to keep him from scoring...

    Radio Broadcast

NDNTime, Thanks for the information. I went on line about 7:00 PM your time and listened until about 7:33 PM and there was no announcement about the game so I thought maybe Cool92.5 wasn't covering the games this year.

    All-Time Records are Updated

All Time records. Corrections. Longest pass completions. Falgout to Goodwin, 87 yds against French. Probably was in 1955. Falgout was on the "B" squad in 1953 and Hathorn was still the QB in 1954. Most rushing yards-Season. Lebeouf and Laborde in 1953. 13 games that year.

    Defence

I'm in CA and only know what I read here and on the Beaumont Enterprise web site. Is there anyone on the coaching staff that knows anything about defense? Or is the problem lack of good athletes on defense? Back in the Stone Age when I played, most of the team played both ways.

    Jim Blount (1937-2016)

Just joined Sports Talk yesterday and read the posts about the passing of Jim Blount and Herman Klinkhamer today. I played on the 53 team with them and remember both with fondness. Like myself Jim played football and was in the band also.
