IMHO, I think this year will be a disaster. I will be surprised if we even play one game in the new stadium. Also, I spoke with the person for the ISD who is assigning seats and she stated "you will get what we want to give you and, if you don't like that, you change change seats with others." Bearing in mind that we have had the same seats for 38 years, I think this attitude stinks! Hmmmmm....wonder who I will "hold up" and make them change seats with me. It is a sad situation for our seniors this year--one they don't deserve. They bought a new scoreboard to replace one two years old and cut things out of the stadium budget until we will have a "bare bones" stadium instead of one to be proud of. I have always felt that the student section was beneficial to the entire community. Now, if people bring their kids, they will be climbing over people the entire game. I will try awfully hard to remain positive, but it is getting more difficult every day. Sad that only 1100 people even voted in the PNGISD election!

The correction to this is that they are actually adding on to the two year old score board. THe amber display is even being retained. See below, and you can pick out the parts of the two year old score board.

So we paid more for the add ons than what the actual scoreboard cost? $627,000 for add ons?

The high resolution, 4.4 trillion color LED display is the expensive item. Pro quality and used at a lot of major venues.

Also, we are not paying for it. The advertisers are.

Imagine the new stadium without the "jumbo-tron." It would not be a complete package. I remember, just after the stadium plans were released, everyone was trying to tell if a jumbo-tron was part of the design.

Why is everyone so upset now? This had nothing to do with the stadium going over budget.

It is not a "bare bones" stadium. You say it is a shame that only 1100 people voted, but it is really a shame that only TWO people showed up when they voted on the changes to the stadium. I know this because i was one of the two. If you were there, you would realize that it is not a bare bones stadium as you call it. It is still going to be one, if not the, best stadiums in the area. I understand it could have been better, but you can't complain when you don't show up for meetings.

You calling me out Mod? How about I meet you in your front yard to settle this? Ha. You need to get that baby here and get back to work. I saw Josh walking in circles today lost. Talk to some of your insiders and find out when the stadium is going to be finished.

Original plans for the stadium called for decorative brick work and electrical boxes made from stainless steel which would last for years. Both items are gone. The painted electrical boxes will be rusting and discoloring the cinderblock walls before ten years is up. If you're going to do something, why not do it right the first time? The 1995 bond supposed replaced every roof in the district and added technology to each school. What is listed for every campus in this bond-----new roofs and technology. What gives? Why can't we do something that will last for 50 years like our present schools have? Also, why act like a second class school district who doesn't care for their children by buying school buses without seatbelts? I can assure you that had we known about a meeting to change the stadium designs, we would have been there with flags on!

i just got an update on the stadium seats and am hearing that dayton has nothing on us. They are moving the press box thirty yards back because the seats are so big. Have not got an update on completion date, but will try to find out sometime today or tomorrow..... On the topic of changing the stadium, the things that were changed were things that really did not have to be there. I am close to one of the people high up building the stadium and he said most of the things that were taken off were pointless anyway. On the subject of electrical boxes, he said that the only difference between stainless and metal is the price. They both will last the same. All in all, I have heard a lot of great things about our up in coming stadium. I think everyone should just wait and see before making judgement, and saying it is not fair to the seniors is funny. I think if they just get to play one game in the new stadium would be worth it to them. Someone has to give a little for the good of everyone else.

I have no knowledge or comment about the roofs. But I can say with certainty that no technology lasts 50 years. 10 years is a couple of lifetimes for computer equipment and software. :)

If it's any consolation, restraints on buses doesn't identify a district as first or second rate. Our district (Cy-Fair) has 90,000+ students and hundreds of buses. No seat belts on any. And CFISD is as good a district as any in the state in terms of education quality or facilities.

I agree nissan. Someone always has to look at the negative. I know i am very excited about this year's team no matter where we play. I look at it like we are getting a new stadium that is state of the art for the best team in the state. No high school can compare to Port Neches-Groves and everyone should just be excited about the upcoming season. Speaking of the season, i have heard the boys are training like madmen. We have picked up a new running back that transfered from another school and is suppose to be the new power guy. From what i hear, ( and i have VERY reliable sources), he is very strong and will do a good job replacing hemmings. Also, Tatum is bulking up and is playing very good. So far, our season is looking bright.

Port Neches-Groves will rock the district next season. And you're right. There is no other football tradition like PNG anywhere in the state. Katy, SLC, Plano, Permian, La Marque, Stephenville, etc all have undisputable pedigrees and history. But PNG students and fans have proven that no community has anything on them.
I've personally seen all those schools and communities in a playoff atmosphere and they don't match up to PNG. Nothing like it.

Be proud and feel fortunate to be in that community!

I to like most of you have been all over this state watching PN-G play football and my father traveled all over this state and my grandfather did the same he was at the 55 championship game and he still tells me about it every season when I drive up to the lake to visit. I believe that we are one of the best places to play and watch football in this state. So Im glad we have a new stadium I am glad we have a new scoreboard and I look forward to my children playing there and I truely believe that our kids deserve this after all that whats its all about right.

Goodluck Indians looking foward to seeing you all at the game

I guess they will hold the fire up pep rally in the gym this year?

Why not move it to the PN park, or to where the Pecan Festival is held in Groves.

Remember when they held the fire up pep rallies at Central Mall at the waterfall area?

Anyway, having it at the pavillion at the pn park would be different, the football team could sit where the cars park at the water, and everyone watching could sit on the hill, like they did for the Zona Jones concert, but on the other hand, the gym would be a good choice in case the weather wasn't cooperating.....wouldn't want to sit on a muddy hill!!!
