Polls are worth nothing unless your playing for a BCS title. THis poll does place us second in district. However, with 4 teams going to playoffs, just going no longer means squat. Imagine being one of the coaches left behind or losing first round.

If I'm remembering right, wasn't the score of PNG vs nederland, 28 PNG 16 nederland. And don't we more offensive starters returning in the district. Apparently the staff that picks this is not penalized or not given a bonus on their paycheck if they are wrong. Come on now guys, don't copy last years predictions

Those "rankings" are just thrown up there by a few mods on the board and are really just someones best guess. Don't put much stock in it...any more than if someone on THIS board were to come up with their own predictions. They're all subject to personal opinions and don't have any bearing on the season itself. But it does give us something to chat about.

Actually Dayton shouldn't be considered if you ask me. They are no longer an area team with the move back to the Houston area district. I can see why nederland was picked over PNG. They have a returning defense and PNG does not. Even a suspect group of returners ranks ahead of a big question mark. And Nederlands offense should be better than last year with Bellows maturing and Cardenas and Brady. I think Nederland has the most returning talent. I would be more perplexed with ranking Jasper over us!
Exluding Dayton.

1. West Brook
2. Nederland
3. PNG
4. WOS
5. Livingston
6. Central
7. Jasper
8. Lumberton
9. Silsbee
10. PAM

If you include North Shore, then they would be my #1.

I watched my first football game ever in 1970 and Jeff Bergeron made me love the game and adore the Indians and, that said, I respectfully disagree with this poll for one reason: over the years it has been our defense that has won game after game by playing tough and I'm not that concerned about this year. We've had weak offenses, but I truly do not remember a defense I was ashamed of. I have no doubts that we will field an awesome defense this year along with a great offense. Nederland should have a hard time again this year is my prediction (and I know its only my honest opinion). Cage the dogs! Go, Indians!
