Yesterday started out rough not knowing if we were going to play or not due to the amount of rain we had Saturday and Saturday night. The high school field was too wet but we were able to play at PN pony field thanks to Chris Thurston. It was a beautiful day and thanks to all the parents and coaches for helping get the field ready in such short notice. It was definitely a fun tournament and none of it would have been possible without the great folks that were out there to help. We had 63 young men sign up and we had a 6 team, double elimination tournament coached by Seniors Carter Henry, Ryan Leckich, Trey Selman, Cole Girouard, Adam Morse, and Chase Warren. The Championship Game was between Team Morse and Team Leckich. Team Leckich went up 1-0 in the first, then in the 4th, Adam Morse hit a 3 run HR to put his team up 3-1. In the 5th, Team Leckich scored a run to come within 3-2, but in the bottom of the inning Team Morse added a run right before time expired to finish 4-0 on the day and win the Championship 4-2. Congrats to those guys. This tournament is a big part of our PNG Baseball Organization and all the money raised each year through tournaments, shirt sales, food, drinks, and raffles provides our Seniors who have played all 4 years at PNG a scholarship towards college or other type of schooling/ training. We will be selling shirts and raffle tickets throughout the season at tournaments and regular season games. The drawing for the raffle will be at the last Varsity home game of the season.
