“This kid is the real deal. He’s a little different than the two we just talked about… he’s not going to make people miss. He’s not going to break a lot of ankles. Not the cross-over like we’re talking about. He will go over them. He will run you over… he’s a slasher… He’s 220 [pounds] and his acceleration is real. It’s right up there in the same class as Bijan Robinson and Gibbs when he takes off.”

Enrolled my son at the Bijon Robinson camp here in Round Rock. It is tonight from 5-9. We are really hoping that Roschon will be there. Rumor has it, he will be at the Fozzy Whitaker camp and I enrolled him in that one too. My son is going into 9th grade and will play for Hutto, so we're pumping nutrition, workouts, personal trainers, these camps, throwing routes with him, etc. We are eagerly awaiting the draft to see where RJ goes so that we can order our jerseys :) We'll be watching for sure.

If Tony Pollard fully heals, they probably don’t need a featured back like Robinson.

But they can sure use a multipurpose workhorse/leader like Roschon Johnson to pick up tough yards and block for Prescott.

But you never know. If teams can pick up a high profile 1st round pick on a cheap rookie contract, use him up and dump him before offering a cap breaker extension, they may be the way to go. Ezekiel Elliot taught the world that extending a running back with a big contract is a no no. Elliot quit putting out max effort as soon as he got that $90M extension. And then he burned out.

Simms has it right with one exception. He WILL make people miss as well as run them over. In any case, whoever gets him will get more than they bargain for. If the Cowboys are smart enough (and lucky enough) to snag him it would make a world of difference for their running game, as a one-two punch of Pollard and Roschon would he hard for any team in the league to stop. It would also go a long way toward restoring my faith in the Cowboys front office, which has not been at the top of my list for a number of years (I’m not holding my breath).

Draft is almost here.

Chris Simm's take on RJ.

Lots of PN-G footage in this conversation.
I have to wonder if either of these guys have ever stepped on a football field. But they sure do 'know' a lot about judging a running back . (NOT)

Simms pretty much has it right. The other two have some things right but don’t really appreciate his full potential. Provided he is given a better chance at the next level than at UT, a lot of people are gonna be surprised.

All the various ‘scoutperts’ opinions are often off target. Example is Lance Zerlien.

Johnson isn’t overly creative and lacks the juice to hit quick-closing NFL holes. He needs it blocked up so he can get downhill and uncork his power on the second level.”

That doesn’t jive with the fact that Johnson has the same 10 yard split time as the top 2 backs in the draft who are considered to be fast. And it doesn’t account for how rapidly he accelerates once he makes his first cut. Or that his top end speed is as good or better than B. Robinson.

All backs benefit from a ‘blocked up’ play.

Some of these draft guys just like to hear themselves talk.

Sometimes I think they just pick from a box of phrases

all media is a puppet show including sports media
If he had a criminal record they would all be in his corner
Then they could do the sad music montage about his “upbringing” at halftime
And show blurry amber tone footage of the PN park lol.
Don’t forget the dobro slide and the hawk squeal and tumbleweed.
But instead he had awesome parents, brothers and community behind him 100%
Which isn’t what they want to hear about “backwards SETx”

But in this case and many others YES
It is “backwards”
Thank little baby Jesus for that
And he’s going to thump some heads in the NFL

And when he nonchalantly hands the ball to the referee after a TD
I’ll be cheering louder than anyone
(Well 30,000 of us all together)
He ll be the best influence on the league in years I predict.

With the amount of high draft picks the Texans have thrown away (historic failure as a franchise)
(JJ Watt pick was booed)
I would do whatever was needed to get him on my team
He could play almost any position on the field.

I've seen him projected to go as early as the 2nd round and an outlier in the 5th...but most have him going in the 3rd or 4th rounds....just a matter to whom at this point.
