2025 Softball

Softball team is cruising along with a 16-2 overall record and 2-0 in district play. Looks like another great season is underway.

Yep. #5 in 5A by Maxpreps. Currently 18-2 and 4-0 in district. Biggest game of the season so far is on Tuesday against perennial powerhouse Barbers Hill, who is also 18-2 and ranked #3 in 5A.

Team bounced back strong against Beaumont United, winning 21-2.

Team is now 21-3, 7-1 in district and headed toward April 11 rematch with BH in the last game of the regular season.

Recently completed sweep of Nederland, followed by a trouncing of West Brook. Still headed for rematch with BH on April 11 for a share of district championship.

Team clinches playoff spot with 17-0 win over Sterling in route to that April 11th showdown with Barbers Hill.

Girls lose rematch with BH 11-1. Oh well, on to the playoffs with likely second place finish.

Girls open playoffs on Thursday April 24 against Santa Fe.

Game 1 against Santa Fe rescheduled for Friday 4/25 at 5pm, turning Friday into a double header with Game 2 following Game 1.

Looks like we lost game 1 to Santa Fe. Game 2 was originally supposed to follow game 1, but it may have been switched to tomorrow. I will post an update if I determine what is going on.

Girls win game 2 5-4 in 8 innings. Deciding game tomorrow.

Lady Indians take game 3 by score of 4-0, winning their first round series against Santa Fe!

After getting blown out by Santa Fe 12-2 in game 1 yesterday, the Lady Indians scored 3 runs in bottom of the 7th in game 2 to send the game to extra innings. They then won the game 5-4 in the 8th on a bases loaded walk.

Incredibly, despite having many good teams over the last 15 years, it appears that this is the first time we have won a first round series in softball since 2010! An article in the Galveston newspaper said it was the first time since 2008, but I was able to determine that we did win a first round series in 2010. In any case, a major accomplishment for the girls this year and hopefully this will propel them to a long playoff run.
