Victoria West finds itself “isolated” from San Antonio, Austin, or Houston Most Corpus Christi area schools are 5AD1 or recently dropped to 4AD1 leaving an area void. UIL decided to take VW east towards Houston/Fort Bend.
VW HC Anthony Diaz playing in 5AD2 the last two years has compiled a 20-6 record. From 2023 to 2021 VW played in 5AD1 and compiled an 18-18 record in those three years.
VW has made the playoffs the last five years. In 2025 VW lost 18-41 to 5AD2 district rival Alamo Heights in the Area round, in 2024 lost 15-59 to 5AD2 district rival Boerne in the Regionals, in 2023 lost 48-51 to 5AD1 district rival Corpus Christi Miller in the Regionals, in 2022 lost 58-74 to 5AD1 district rival Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial in the Area round, and lost in 2021 28-50 to 5AD1 McAllen Memorial in bi-district. Above rematches in the playoffs have not been kind to VW.

Boerne is 24-6 and Alamo Heights is 24-3 in the last two years leaving VW at a distant third at 20-6 in the competition race.
Graduation has hit VW hard on offense going into the 2026 season. Graduated QB along with top four RBs accounted for 65 TDs, 2976 yds rushing, and 2256 yds passing and are all gone along with four offensive linemen.
