5A split

That's interesting. so, if things remain the same (enrollment wise) PAM (still a girl's name) would be much like poor Livingston, who has to make 2+ hr. road trips for every other game. Of course, PAISD has LOTS of $$, so the expense is not a big deal (J/K). At least PAM would have to compete against similar sized schools, which DOES level the playing field. JMO

I'm not surprised it passed. It will be interesting where Ned and PNG fall on that split. Hopefully they both will stay in the same division. I think Ozen and Livingston will be down in 4A next time around so it will depend on who moves in.

Which could mean more travel time for all of us too, if we get grouped with Dayton, Crosby, etc.

I don't know what to make of the 5A split into divisions. It is getting too confusing to keep up with who's in, who's out, who PN-G will play in pre-district, who PN-G will play in district, and who PN-G will play in the playoffs. Can we go back to Class B through Class AAAA, and only the district champion makes the playoffs? Life was much simpler back then. At the rate the UIL changes things and creates mass confusion and chaos, why not create a November/December Madness Tourney, slot teams 1 - 200 and start playing towards a winner take all championship game.

Going forward, IndianFan, I will rely upon you and pngindians.com to keep me informed about who the Indians play, when and where. All of other stuff, i.e., divisions, enrollment, match-ups, is too much to keep track of...thank the Lord for www.pngindians.com.

Go Indians. Peace.

Will the UIL get more "Championships" out of this decision? They really like that money, ya know!

cutoff line for what? Btw: we're not moving up to 6A if that's what they are thinking.

I'm guessing he meant the 5A D1/D2 cutoff, and that Memorial will be the only team leaving 22-5A for a D1 district. That's a shame because this will essentially reverse all the travel advantages gained by moving down from 6A.

its not really that big of a deal for us cause we been traveling to East Houston/North Houston forever up until this school year. It would be a huge deal for everyone else in the district though if they add Crosby and other Houston area squads to what will be 5AD2. Yall (other current 22-5A schools) never had to travel like that in district play.

Sure Port Arthur has been used to it, but the main reason they wanted to join 22-5A was to avoid that travel. Travelling to Baytown has been common for 22-5A teams. So Dayton, Barbers Hill, or Crosby would be similar if any of them were to be on the schedule. But if 22-5A is only going to lose 1 team, makes sense to keep the local teams together and not fill that spot.

All other district teams are Div 1.

Baytown Lee
Central

Livingston
Lumberton
Nederland
Ozen
PN-G
Vidor
So Central won't be in our district?
central is not that big of a school right now.

Central is still larger than 4 other schools in 22-5A. If they remain a 5A school why wouldn't they be in 22-5A?
