Band not staying the night in SA??

Just wondering what everyone thought about the football team staying two nights in SA and the band having to leave early that morning and come straight home after the game. Sounds like a long day to me. Was there not funding for that or am I missing something? Not trying to start any drama, just curious? I'm just hoping that this trip to SA is not going to come back and bite us in the pocket book.

From what I was told the football team is going Friday and staying the night then coming back ofter the game Saturday. The band...etc were traveling up Saturday and staying the night then traveling back Sunday.

From what I was told the band, Indianette's and cheerleaders are going up and coming home the same day. The football players are only staying one night from what I was told.

SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS A LOT OF MIS-INFORMATION ON THE SUBJECT. I WOULDN'T JUMP TO ANY CONCLUSIONS.

The two options were A) go in charter busses and come home Saturday or B) go in school busses and come home Sunday. Charter busses were the cheaper option. Unless more funding becomes available between now and then, we'll be making the entire trip Saturday.

4 1/2 hr drive there, 2 1/2 hr game, 4 1/2 hr drive home. What a LONG day! Just seems like to me that there wasn't proper planning to put this thing together. I guess if any kids can do it, the indians can.

My daughter being an Indianette, will be staying the night after the game...WITH US.

I think the Charter busses may be a bad move.
Most of the parents will be going up and staying the night after the game, thus the kids will not be riding home on the busses. I heard a rumor that they were going to make it mandatory that they also ride home on the busses because they paid for them, but you can't justify having all of those parents driving home late at night because the ISD ordered charter busses. Not safe at all.

I know that they want them all together on the trip up, but they could save a lot of money if they polled the kids to see which ones had rides (family) up and back then charter what was needed.

I don't know what they are going to do, but I do know that the year we won the state championship at Texas Stadium both the Indianettes and band went up on school busses that morning and returned following the game. I also feel that the pride and honor they feel make it worth the trip--no matter how they go. They will have memories from this trip that other students did not have. I really want to see another state championship in my life time, but they need to hurry up! lol

Why don't we do some fundraisers over the summer and use that money to provide lodging for the Band and Indianettes. I have to agree that this does not seem safe to me and I would probably insist on my daughter/son staying with me....Who is going to be home when these kids get home? I know we are talking about HS kids here, but stuff happens. This has not been thought out completely.....

From what I heard (and this is just what I heard), the company providing the charter busses is willing to give us a discount for each bus we don't need on the ride home. If (and that's a big "if") this is the case, band members and Indianettes that stay in San Antonio with their parents may actually save the district money.

I had two football players tell me they were staying two nights. Seems to be some confusion on what they are doing.

The football team is only staying Friday night. They will be coming home on Saturday. Some of the players may not have all the information yet, but they will definitley only be staying one night.
