Me, too, but people should bear in mind that Gordon was one of three running backs that split the runs during his 1950's reign. He was truly an awesome All-American running back and those who watched him run have not forgotten it yet. That said, I love Chase Bertrand and he is so awesome. I want him to continue to excel and be named an All American, too. Just think what an honor that would be for him, his nice family and the entire PNG community.NDNmom91 said:If they use him like they did against Willis he might just break that record...I would LOVE to witness that!!
You also have to remember that back then the forward pass was about as popular as communism! The only way to compare the two would be by carries/yards per carry. Where LeBoeuf shared the load, so does Bertrand because of our great passing game. Both are/were excellent backs and we have a lot to be proud of in them.squaw said:Me, too, but people should bear in mind that Gordon was one of three running backs that split the runs during his 1950's reign. Unfortunately for Chase, the All-American honor has become a popularity contest intended only for the top recruits. I think the AA has become a shame and is a scam. I think the bigtime college programs have undermined the process to help them hype their recruiting classes to the Alums. And since Chase will not be a Major D1 recruit he will not get the attention he deserves as an excellent HS running back, nor will any of our outstanding Linemen this year and next.squaw said:Me, too, but people should bear in mind that Gordon was one of three running backs that split the runs during his 1950's reign. Congrats to Chase, Nicotre, Langois, Parks, Braud, Lunceford, Stasinos and Mayfield. You all deserve a big part in this.
ndnsrock44 said:You are right badndn....if you are not from a high profile, D1 football factory, you don't have a chance for any of those honors. Jayce Nelson is the best WR I have seen in a long time in HS, yet he will probably get snubbed for any state or AA consideration. Hopefully, as Caoch Faircloth brings our program back to prominence, our kids will get notice more.
