Is Chase at 1507 or 1635? I've seen on a few other site's showing 1507 and the PA New's say's the 1507 is what was turned in by the coaches. I'd like to see him get the record this season. If we can play at least 3 more game's he will have a shot.

From IndianFan on receivers topic.

Rushing stats are available online.

Bertrand has passed Harmon's 2009 total and is nearing the all-time record of 2,150 yards set by Gordon LeBoeuf set in 1955.

2010 - Chase Bertrand
Carries Yards Avg. TDs
309 1929 6.24 23

It is absolutely amazing that he has passed Harmon. WOW!

If they use him like they did against Willis he might just break that record...I would LOVE to witness that!!

Chase should be at 1829 for the season. IPrep's has him rushing for 196 yard's against Nederland whenever he only gained 96 yard's. That's probally the difference where other place's are showing lower #'s than ipreps. If we can win this week, he should break the record in rd 4.

Me, too, but people should bear in mind that Gordon was one of three running backs that split the runs during his 1950's reign. He was truly an awesome All-American running back and those who watched him run have not forgotten it yet. That said, I love Chase Bertrand and he is so awesome. I want him to continue to excel and be named an All American, too. Just think what an honor that would be for him, his nice family and the entire PNG community.

You also have to remember that back then the forward pass was about as popular as communism! The only way to compare the two would be by carries/yards per carry. Where LeBoeuf shared the load, so does Bertrand because of our great passing game. Both are/were excellent backs and we have a lot to be proud of in them.

Coach Segura emailed me saying that Bertrand is @2
and Nelson and Jalali are @ 1 and @2. He will give me the exact numbers when he returns to his classroom.

Unfortunately for Chase, the All-American honor has become a popularity contest intended only for the top recruits. I think the AA has become a shame and is a scam. I think the bigtime college programs have undermined the process to help them hype their recruiting classes to the Alums. And since Chase will not be a Major D1 recruit he will not get the attention he deserves as an excellent HS running back, nor will any of our outstanding Linemen this year and next.

Congrats to Chase, Nicotre, Langois, Parks, Braud, Lunceford, Stasinos and Mayfield. You all deserve a big part in this.

I agree about the politics of HS All-Americans and the influence of college coaches in the selections. Look at Dravannti Johnson from Nederland. Some say he was a Parade All American in 2007 due to the influence of Mack Brown.

You are right badndn....if you are not from a high profile, D1 football factory, you don't have a chance for any of those honors. Jayce Nelson is the best WR I have seen in a long time in HS, yet he will probably get snubbed for any state or AA consideration. Hopefully, as Caoch Faircloth brings our program back to prominence, our kids will get notice more.

We are back...this program is on a long upswing with Coach Faircloth as Chief of the Tribe. Just wait until he zeros-in on an underclassman (Jr High and Frosh) that he can groom at QB for 2 or 3 years. His system will continue to produce stats and wins. As long as we can find kids on the OL and DL, we will be good enough to compete for a lot wins and district championships. The key every year will be finding good kids on the OL and DL. Coach Faircloth will create QBs, RBs, and WRs. When we have talented kids at skilled positions ala Bertrand and Nelson, that is a huge plus because those young men will be the natrual LEADERS. We must continue to build our foundation from the trenches on outward. 1999 was a long time ago as was 1977, 1976, 1975, and 1974. It's a new era of Indian football and winning will be a part of it. Indian Nation should be excited. Central won the district because we tinkered with our defense for far too long in weeks 4, 5, and 6. We're not a shutdown defense, but we can bend without breaking ... and we make plays when we have to ... see the LC-M game, Barbers Hill, and Willis. Instead of us worrying about other teams, we should be confident enough to hold our heads high and have other teams worry about us. We are going to have great week of practice this week and go play fearless Indian football next weekend. Win or lose, PN-G is back.

Go Indians. Peace.
