I wonder what offensive schemes, such as slot-t, are inherently susceptible to greater injuries?
Running QBs have a cost mostly seen by the playoffs. LH has the luxury of a deep talented bench but key talent positions are not so easily replaced.
I don't have any hard data to support this but this has been true for two of the three last years against us.

Richmond Randle will win the state championship in 5A-Division II. They have it all. Talent, size, speed, coaching, a fast and aggressive defense, and momentum. They have the talent of SOC, the best defense in 5A-Division II, and good coaching.

I guess that’s why the game is played. Heard the same about the self anointed “Legendary” SOC. I can think of a number of uses for scrap sports paper.

If your PNG opponent’s defense is blitzing the gaps your offense line is creating and “breaking” your RB ankles over and over again then ankle and leg injuries pile up. If you don’t penalize their blitzing defense with quick short passes in these vacated areas in the middle of the field you reward the defense to continue over and over again, PNG QB is too valuable as a passer to become a runner. Therefore the importance of a Wildcat QB #4. I can’t understand the “stubbornness” resistance to implement change. Is it an “Ego” thing or a lack of self awareness.

What is so sad is that none of LH past district HC /DC coaches have the “smarts” to study PNG game films on defense of LH slot T. Particularly this year. LH graduated over 12000 yard of offense. No QB Joe Pitchford, RB Noah Long, no FB Ben Carter. LH offense this season was filled with “Newbie’s by mid season their passing game had exploded to six passes attempted.

Vidor used to run the slot T offense when they were a PNG district foe. No problems defending. With D1 stars any offense can be great as long as they don’t come up against a D1 defense.

Good question. LH has had years of success in Region 4. My guess is the number of 5A-D2 schools in the Valley, Coastal Bend, and San Antonio area pushed LH into Region 3, which is usually and generally much tougher than Region 4. It will all be moot in five or six weeks thanks to Richmond Randle. GO INDIANS.

UIL had to reduced the sizes of Region 4 Districts 14, 15 and 16 to five and six teams. how would you like to have to pickup and travel to fill out a ten game schedule. It would have been much worse in District 14 if a number of Corpus Christi HS had not dropped down from 5AD1 to 5AD2 to fill the glaring shortages. UIL by shortchanging Region 4 districts was able to cascade and eventually squeeze out PNG into Region 2. UIL thinks they’re so smart no one catch up to their biases.

I concur. From some of the recent posts on this site, it’s a wonder that PNG showed up to play the “Legendary” 2022 SOC team with their 11 D1 players (most in the nation for a HS).

In 2022 PNG after leading SOC for almost three quarters woke up a sleeping giant by trying to pass out of the end zone and PNG QB was tackling for a safety and then PNG had to kick off from the 20 yard line and SOC flipped the field and scored again. That play call and momentum change energized SOC.PNG Kids played their hearts out and left nothings on the field.

Spot on. Defenses have learned how to create enough chaos between the tackles as well as blitz linebackers to slow down the purple express. There’s still an occasional play where the trap blocks work and there’s a lane to sprint through, but more and more often not. It’s a numbers game. The quick pass plays we saw at the beginning of the Dayton game would really make this offense tough to defend going forward. Just don’t be too predictable with the pass play.

If the DL, LBs, and DEs are shooting the gaps and crashing down to stop the inside run game, run a jet sweep, or stretch handoff to the outside, or do what Charlie Feller did last year and have the QB pitch the ball to the RB on the outside. Couple that with a short passing game and the DEs and LBs will slow down. Put your kids in the best position possible to be successful. Don't ask the QB to complete a 15-20 yard out route to a WR who is doubled. Don't run the QB to the short side of the field, running to his left, and asking him to throw across his body into double coverage. The throws against Dayton were encouraging. Need some consistency by the WRs---other than #11 who catches everything---and don't forget about #88 who has shown his ability when given a chance. I'd love to see #22 get a jet sweep. Or, just a pitch on the outside. If he gets in open space, he could hit the gas. After watching the Dayton game (again), #25 continues to impress me. I don't care if he is 120 lbs. He runs hard, like he's 220 lbs., and he doesn't dance around. It's the playoff season. Just need to go 1-0 each week for six weeks.

Agree 100%. And, deep corner routes don’t punish the defense for shooting the gaps against the run. so those passes do nothing to help open up the run. But if we complete a short pass and LB was diving in the box, he spends the rest of the game guessing.

I have gone back and review videos from past two years with emphasis on observing offense coaches on side lines giving instructions. To an uneducated observer it would appear that the offensive coordinator calls the play type run or pass and the offensive line coach calls the offensive line blocking scheme for that play. It takes experience working together to make this inter dependence seamless. Since PNG has two
new offense coaches in those positions one from inside and one from outside of the PNG system can this raw interface explain the inconsistency and breakdowns?
A mother and new daughter in law in the kitchen the thanksgiving meal burns neither can speak up, no one can assign blame, and it would take outside help to settle the situation. But Father and son are not about to take sides. Family goes to Luby and next year as well and just ignores the problem hoping it just goes away.

There is something off with this year’s Offense and it’s not the effort or talent of the kids.

I've been solving world hunger as well in between getting my cabin built. AKA I have way to much free time on my hands to deal with my OCD and i have a full time job as well.

I only listened to the first ~ 1:25 or so and shut it off. He repeated his exact same quote from last season after losing to us. "We were 1 pass away from beating PNG".
If we'd lost then I guess we could say the same thing. I also suppose that we can say that we were 1 pass away from beating Nederland a couple or 3 weeks ago. It's arguably a good line, I suppose.
