Yes. We scored 5 touchdowns and missed 4 PATs (3 kick attempts and a 2 point attempt). Could have easily been 6 TDs if not for the fumble inside the TH 5 yard line on the long reception. 42-28 was very reachable. But a win is a win and it is a great accomplishment.

And don’t forget the boneheaded Unsportsmanlike Conduct Penalty that backed us up.

I will give you a brief postmortem of the game from my Tiger point of view. This was a game dictated by the Offensive Lines of both teams. For most of the game, each team’s OL beat the DL of the other team. The Indian OL had a good push that allowed your hard running back an extra yard to get to top speed and push the pile. The Tiger line created running lanes and most importantly pass blocked very effectively. Potter had nominal pressure when setting up in the pocket. Before the game, I noted the PNG receiver of choice was Nunley. For some unknown reason on obvious passing situations he was loosely covered. I am sure the DBs were cheating on the run. The last Texas High series was puzzling. Our receivers were beating your secondary consistently. I understand the run on first down to get what you could and burn clock. But think we should have passed on 2nd & 3rd. With Potter making efficient passes, they are as good as the run. Our receivers were very elusive in the open field getting yards after the catch.

It was a fun game and PNG earned the win. Best of luck going forward.

The read numerous posts about folks in Texarkana leaving off the “s”. Frankly, I find it amusing it is such a sore subject at PNG. I can only assume this is a common occurrence. So you know, Pleasant Grove ISD is within the city limits of Texarkana and is commonly referred to as “The Grove”. I think I was guilty of leaving off the “s” and apologize to all I offended. But I guess some have to have a reason to be offended.

On the NDN Press FaceBook group, they said they were working on removing the copyright flags and were going to republish it and post in that group when it has been completed. They did not mention an eta for when.
Outstanding. Regardless of the outcome next week, this will go down in history as one of the greatest victories in the long history of our team. For many of the previous wins in this category, there is no option to watch it again. I would sure like to watch this one again.

PS: I know I could pay and watch it on NFHS, but I think the NDN Press broadcasters are actually better. Besides, I would rather re-experience the broadcast I originally experienced.

If it’s an honest mistake we get it. When it’s pointed out and people laugh and say they purposefully did it then it’s an issue.

Which the Texarkana gameday specifically said. On purpose and would do it again.

What if we called it Texa High? Would anyone ask to have it spelled differently? ;) Asking for a correction is not necessarily feeling offended.

It’s all good.

Just re-watched the coin flip. All players from both teams shook hands prior to the coin flip.

I think both teams showed Good sportsmanship during the game.
Yeah I remember everyone shaking hands. And most of the time if folks out of the area don't say PNG, then they leave off the Groves altogether and just call it Port Neches. I'm FROM Groves, and I even leave it off much of the time and just say Port Neches. Heck that's where the school is located, Port Neches.

Anyway, everything has just about been said; it was a good close game as predicted. Lots of good athletes, and plenty of opportunities for all of us armchair coaches. I questioned a few calls myself, on both teams, on both offense and defense. The un-sportsman call against us was a very rare occurrence, whatever happened, it must have been pretty bad.

Also btw, I can't get NDN Press replay either. I want to see the fg attempt again, maybe will try NFHS. Last night on NDNP, the camera panned to the goal posts, then panned back, but the kick had already been blocked so I wasn't sure who blocked it. Did we miss 3 PATs or 4?
Missed 3 extra points, one 2-point conversion attempt, and a 44 yd field goal fell short. That's 8 points. Plus the fumble at the 6 yard line that could have set up a TD with a successful extra point, or a short FG. The final score would have been 40 something to 28 (or TH would have kept their offense on the field on 4th down instead of the blocked FG attempt).

But with all of these issues, the Indians kept fighting through them and pulled off a great victory. Most teams would have been totally throwed out of sinc, but not our guys. Hats off to Coach Joseph and the coaching staff for keeping the team on track and focused on the next series. Also, great job to the fans, band, etc. for staying loud and supporting their efforts.
