Yes it has…very sad! BISD has been in a downward spiral for years resulting in a steady decline of the football programs, but Westbrook took a BIG nose dive after their State Championship run and coaching change!! They BARELY squeaked out a win over LUMBERTON who got WHIPPED up and down the field by Nederland last week. I can’t help but think how we seemed to be heading in a similar direction as Westbrook a few years ago with our search for a new coach…prior to a little “intervention”!
We most definitely “DODGEd” a HUGE bullet! ;)
Intervention indeed. The decision makers were gently pointed back to the trail of victory, and turned away from sending the program down a path of future mediocrity.

It was nice to see the Indians get win #17 in a row and in the process play lots of kids in the second half. That voice at Doggett Family Stadium was indeed Dave Hofferth. His voice reminded me of PN-G footall in 1977 and Lamar Cardinal basketball in the eighties. The Indians need to tighten up the secondary. Beaumont United's WRs got a lot of separation but the QB couldn't complete the throws. Lake Creek's Eli Morcos will complete the throws. He won't miss open WRs. #15 and #27 had nice games running the ball. The Marching I had a small hole in it down near the bottom. Were some kids missing? The band looked a tad smaller in numbers tonight and the Marching I had that hole of missing bodies? I was expecting a bigger crowd for PN-G. It's not very often you get watch your team win 17 in a row. I guess the light rain kept people away. LaPorte will be a tough game, then a week off...and then, things get real in a hurry vs. Lake Creek and Huntsville. Those two games will be big boy football.
We defintely missed our go to #19 in our passing attack, but the big boys up front wore the DL out in the 3rd qtr. In the tough games coming up it will be difference in the 4th qtr between a W or L.

I TOTALLY get it!! EVERYTHING is planned around PNG Friday Night Lights in my house!! I’ve had some family/friends who obviously didn’t think I was SERIOUS and tried to test that over the years, but found out REAL quick where my LOYALTY stands between Aug and Dec! :p

I just watched the livestream on NDN Press (another great job guys)! In the background I could hear the voice of the announcer at the Beaumont stadium. I could swear I’ve heard that voice before. I searched deep into the vaults of my brain and realized that that voice belonged to Dave Hofferth, who was the voice of Lamar basketball and sports director at Channel 12. I remember that he also did the play-by-play for PN-G football games on KLVI during the glory years of the 70s. I bet I haven’t heard that voice in 30 years, and it sure brought back some good sports memories! I checked his Twitter page and saw that he does indeed work behind the mike for the BISD Stadium. Glad he's still around.

I live 1200 miles away from Port Neches and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the work the NDN Press does to broadcast the football games live over the Internet! It almost makes me feel like I’m there in person, sitting alone at the top of the stands! Those two boys behind the microphones do a fantastic job conveying the excitement of the game to Indian fans like me who can no longer attend the games.
Ditto for me. I'm in Bakersfield, CA. Go Indians!

So, Senior LB #32 Davis Freeman is new to me….was he on varsity, JV, or possibly injured and didn’t play last year? All I know is he gave BU all they could handle and MORE last night, along with #3! That duo is definitely exciting to watch!

He was on the varsity last season. At least during the playoffs. All I know is that he’s a hard hitting tackler.

I’ve got to brag on the NDN PRESS for a minute
I’m just one possession in but they continue to improve week by week
Both the camera work and the two commentators
That’s not an easy job describing what you’re seeing having names (especially opponents) and not getting too tangled in your words
I tried doing basketball radio once and it was nothing short of an apologetic disaster. Haha.
They’re doing as well or better than most of the adult (even past coaches and players)
Great job

We get to see how good SOC is REALLY next week against Longview
A team pretty close to our caliber
And this will be our best test so far
Also get to gauge Texas High and Midlothian Heritage (which will show how strong our bi district competition will be)

NEXT GAMEDAY

PN-G Indians (7-1)
vs.
Montgomery Bears (7-1)

Friday, Nov. 1, 7:00PM

Indian Stadium, Port Neches, TX

PN-G INDIANS FOOTBALL

I could not be more proud of our team and our community. The spirit here is unmatched! I am so lucky to be a part of it and to wear the purple and white! The journey of this football season, with these coaches and our players, will stay with me forever.  -- PN-G Head Coach Jeff Joseph
