Football field use...

Just found out that the Soccer teams are having to go practice on the old Practice fields because the football and Baseball teams are using the turf for practice. Football is over and Baseball practicing on the football field whats up with that? They have been able to get on the field a couple of times but had to share it with the other sports that don't even use that field. This kind of stuff really ticks me off, our tax dollars going to good use B.S. I really think it's time some things change around the Res. Hopefully things will get ironed out and things can get back to normal. Good luck Guys and Girls on the upcoming season, hope you get to use the facilities your parents are paying for. :duel:

All I can do is encourage everyone to get out and vote when school board elections come around again.

if you do not like the way things are run at the PNGISD then you have to vote the board memeber out!

Yes, it's true about the soccer team.

The few times they have been allowed to practice on the turf, they've only been able to use half of the field, so football or baseball can use the other half... I don't get it either. Instead, they've just taken to using the old field, as 1/2 field does them no good.

I guess we can see where the sport of soccer is ranked on the totem pole.

As you know, it's definitely football.

Are you saying we should rank each groups use of the facilities by how much income they generate? If so, we may as well discontinue the soccer program, and a few others as well.

You are right, and with this new position things won't change. Everything will still be back seat to football. Just like the Cheerleaders, Why doesn't the other sports get the support of the cheerleaders. I know basketball has them there sometimes not sure about Baseball, Softball or Volleyball, not that they should be at every game but they could show a little respect to the other Athletes besides football. Everyone of the kids that participate in athletics work very hard to represent PNG on the field or court, a little support would be nice. Even the Middle school level, other schools have cheerleaders. We had to sit on the home side with Vidor this year for the PNMS football games and they had a Cheerleaders.

So here is my take...the field is a multisport field...The usage of the field should be evaluted on which sport is competing at the time. The football team will not be playing until NEXT school year. Soccer season is just a month away! Why in the world should football take precedent over soccer right now? Soccer should win out for this time of year. Let us remember, football will only be playing half of their games on turf this upcoming season, they need to go over to the old practice field and get a little bit of dirt on their uniform. Its time to let soccer take over for a few months on the new turf...Remember, soccer parents are paying for that field as well.

Maybe with all the construction going on at the high school it is hard to get all the equipment they need for offseason over to the old practice field. That place is pretty tore up right now. Just a thought. I could be wrong.

It might also be a hazard to get the kids over there.

That might be. But if it is a hazard to get the football kids over to the practice field, then why do they allow the soccer kids to practice on the old fields??? Just a thought.

Because...everything else takes a backseat to football, at ALL HS's that have multiple sports. Those involved in the football programs at all schools basically determine the fate of the other sports from what I've seen. Football and those involved in it are put on a pedestal and the other sports bow to it..but as was already brought up, FB probably brings in more funds to the districts than all other sports combined. With as much emphasis that is put on FB, it's not surprising. At least that's the way I see it. When was the last time you saw 3,000-5,000 fans pack a gym to see a BB game or the bleachers to see a baseball game or the stadium to see a track meet or soccer game??

According to a former PNG baseball coach, 2500 at a PNG baseball game wasn't unusual. That's back when PNG's baseball park seated around 1,800. Since then the baseline bleachers haved been moved over to the softball field.
