Texas City at FBM and Santa Fe at Nederland should be (on paper, at least) competitive games.

Santa Fe, Galena Park and Willowridge are continuing to trend as weak football programs. Texas City and Dayton have been surprisingly weak for several years. Nederland is currently down but does have some precedence of success and potential to improve. Ongoing and future circumstances will determine if they can climb back to being a good program. FB Marshall is FB Marshall.

Overall 9-5A looks and plays like a relatively weak district. If we consider the past 5 years prior to the 2023 season, the numbers are eye opening. Of course season records are relative given how district realignment over those years skews the comparisons. But here are the raw numbers.

2018-2022
Fort Bend Marshall - 63-7-0 (4 district championships, 2 state final appearances)
Port Neches-Groves - 42-22-0 (1 district championship, 1 state final appearance)
Nederland - 31-24-0 (co-district championship in 2020)
Galena Park - 26-26-0
Fort Bend Willowridge - 26-25-0
Texas City - 23-29-0
Santa Fe - 15-36-0
Dayton - 10-41-0

Then just like FB Willowridge being so close to FBM Hightower and Ridge Point
Same thing with GP and North Shore
Same district same area
One is great one is terrible
Doesn’t make sense

Good grief. Texas City beat FB Marshall 15-7. The beast was never present this season. Something off in Missouri City.
