Some Rookie play calling in the 2nd half made me nervous. We’ve got to get back to shorter routes. We don’t throw many 5-10 yard curls we constantly want to go for the deep passes. Defense is still playing great ball. Another tough opponent next week.

Well seeing on how we finally got past the 3rd round for the 1st time since ‘99 I would say the coaching change was well worth it. Excited for the path the program is headed where both sides of the ball is important.

Especially since we have a lot of guys that can produce YAC. I also think it’s too risky to go for on onside kick when you have a big lead and are playing good defense. Sure, could have crushed them if it had worked, but its too risky in my book under the circumstances. However, it was a great game overall, and if we can continue to avoid the big mistakes and play a full 4 quarters for once, we CAN beat FBM.

Without a doubt. Now if we could just get a consistent passing game going we would be virtually unstoppable.

Hats off to Brenham for the great sportsmanship. As usual they where great kids, At the end of the game even before the final plays they were patting our players on the helmets and congratulating them. They jave great players and fans and understand how to win and how to take one on the chin. Great organization top to bottom. Hats off.

I bet the Prosperie sweep averaged over 10 yards tonight- 3-4 times
The counter “reverse” trap did very well (once run)
Draw worked (once run)
#19 finding a hole only was stopped ~REALLY~ once we almost could run a QB sneak and get 3 yards on each one
The QB has to be a threat to run (in order) to run the read option effectively (IMO)

Random thoughts from a great PN-G victory at NRG. Loved the all-white storm trooper look. Solid look for PN-G. Houston Texans, take notes. That's how you win games at NRG. Lord knows I've seen enough Texans' losses there. Great to see a PN-G win.

1. Why didn't NRG open the gates at 5:00 p.m.? Instead they made 10,000 PN-G fans stand in the rain? Get it together NRG.

2. Not a huge PN-G crowd, by standards of 1999, 1989, or 1974-1977, but a good number of diehard PN-G fans showed up at NRG notwithstanding the Thanksgiving day holidays, rain, rain, rain, rain, and did I mention the rain? I'm guessing PN-G brought 12,000 fans to NRG and Brenham had 3,000 to 4,000 fans. Just my eyeball estimate. On the PN-G side, the lower bowl was mostly full from the 20-yard line to the opposite 20-yard line. The PN-G band and Indianettes sat in the end zone (south side and on the side of the 610 Loop).

3. PN-G played an almost flawless first half. The Indians won the toss, deferred, and settled down for a solid first half after Brenham opened the game with a TD. It did not take the Indians long to figure out the Brenham fake pass, QB run game. The PN-G DL and LBs shed their blockers and put the Brenham QB on the ground. Solid game by the PN-G special teams creating the early turnover. Brenham turnovers gave PN-G short fields and the Indians flexed their muscles in the trenches with power run game. When PN-G wanted to run the ball, the Indians lined up and ran the football. #33 and #19 ran for big gains in between the tackles, and when PN-G lined up in the short yardage power offense, they added a toss sweep to #18 Prosperie. 28 - 7 at the half and PN-G had all the Mojo.

4. Second half, nice opening drive and score by the Indians to make it 35-7. Then, for some reason, PN-G tried a squib kick? A big return by Brenham gave the Cubs some momentum. Just kick it deep. Also, the Cubs started to find #1 in their passing game. He made some nice catches and YAC, and the coverage by PN-G was not too bad. Sometimes the other kids make plays. Our kids just kept playing hard. That's all you can ask. Brenham hit a couple of big pass plays for scores, their QB got loose on a couple of runs, and the next thing you know, Brenham executed an onside kick. Things got tight. That said, PN-G did what it had to do to hold off Brenham and nail down the W. The reliable run game came through again. Big fourth down throw and catch by #11 and #10 for PN-G. Nice, solid game by the QB #11. Made some nice throws, used the play clock well, and he is a darn good punter, too.

5. All three phases played well. No complaints. When you are practicing and playing the week of Thanksgiving and playing again during the first week of December, all the teams you play are good. PN-G is good. They play great, at times. The OL and DL of PN-G in 2022 are outstanding. They have size and they can go toe-to-toe with anyone. When you play PN-G, you better have your big boy pants on. The OL can move people three and four yards off the ball. #72, #68, #74, #79, #65, #75, and a few others that I am missing...or that rotate into the game and my eyes are too old to clearly see. The OL will hit you and push the line of scrimmage. The DL is tall, strong, agile, and they will get after you. #44, #48, #94, and several others. Tall, strong kids.

6. FBM will have size and speed. No surprise. PN-G has seen it up close. The Indians will match the Buffs size-wise man-for-man. If the Indians don't turn the ball over, don't give up easy TDs, and get one or two TOs from the Buffs, it is game on. PN-G should feel confident. They have played their rear-ends off. Offense, defense, and special teams are playing well. They have earned every step of their playoff journey. They can play with any of the eight teams remaining. If PN-G gets a few breaks, they can win the whole thing. The OL and DL kids that PN-G has in 2022 don't come around often. They can line up and play grown man football. They have a shot to win next week and win it all.

Fun times tonight at NRG. Great to see all that PN-G purple and white celebrating a great V-I-C-T-O-R-Y.

$20 to park...$16 per ticket. Come on, NRG/Texans. Ridiculous prices. Next week, I hope PN-G can get a double or triple header partner for more games at NRG? PN-G vs. FBM ... Katy vs. ? ... North Shore v ? ... Silsbee vs ? Any others?

Go Indians.
