Harry Charles! Now, those of you who know him, just smiled (I know you did). And those of you who do not know him, are really missing out on knowing a gem of a man. He was the PNJH band director for ages, and for me, and hundreds of others, he made our first experience with band a ton of fun.

BTW, he's doing well, still as witty as ever, and was really glad to hear from me. He's currently confined to a wheel chair, but he said he's working to get out of it. He's in his 80's now.

Just thought some of you would enjoy hearing this.

Mr. Charles is still very active. He often comes to band practices and is always very encouraging to the students.

He was 'old' when I was taking junior high band. And that was decades ago! :cheesy: Seriously, he was a very encouraging type of teacher and made learning fun.

He could use a few prayers from you guys. He's got some struggles ahead, but he's determined to win, and our prayers may be just what he needs. IMO, it's the LEAST we can do, given what he did for so many.

He was one of my all-time favorite teachers and the only reason I started band in the first place. I wanted to quit when he retired the year I went to seventh grade. He is truly an amazing person. My daughter who is a freshman in band this year always loved it when he was getting to come work with them in Middle School. He is in my prayers.
